It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Whoa!!!! What???? Just saw it was canceled. One of the best shows on. Bring it back!!!!!
Yes, I agree with the fellow who stated that the way tv shows are aired is sporadic. Dallas was a victim of this as well as many other shows. Why can’t they air tv shows like in days of past?
Popular shows like Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke, and ‘Dallas’ etc were events that family and friends would watch together a lot. These tv programmers today have no guts or any idea beyond a bottom line. A bottom line that they don’t even have a clue about. Bring back Dallas and show some guts.
I have been waiting for Dallas to return this year as I never missed an episode when it first aired decades ago or the newest episodes and was sad to learn today that it has been cancelled. I think the show’s cast were all terrific & I’m sure with the passing of Larry Hagman, the show may have lost viewers. I think another network should pick it up for sure. It is true that it was difficult to find when it was to air so it was set up to fail.
BRING THIS SHOW BACK!
BRING IT BACK!!!!
I think the biggest problem was that it was not a steady show, you never knew when it would come back, like the other TV shows on TV. I always had to go on line to see when it was going to start again………the other shows you always know that May is the end of the season and it always starts again in September but not Dallas.
it is to bad that it is off the air………and there should have been some kind of an ending t the 3 season we did watch…………….
It would be nice if they could do a 2 hour wrap up show that ties up the loose ends from Season 3 ending.
Won’t you please bring back Dallas? Many fans would be so glad.
I am so sad to know that the show is not coming back. I watched Dallas since it first started back in the 80’s. Good story line. Please consider bringing it back and give it one more try.
I loved the show and have been waiting for it to return to TV. Finding this canceled article really bummed me out this show had me wanting more each and every week. Please bring it back!!!
I really enjoyed the program and was always waiting to see what happened from week to week maybe another station will pick it up.
don’t end it. I never expected it to be as good as the original but it surpassed it. Try one more season. You can’t leave us hanging!
Bring back Dallas. You shouldn’t have cancelled it. Best show on TV. You’re crazy to not bring it back. So many fans.
It is really sad, I looked forward to see what was going to happen week after week., and then to cancel the show and leave us hanging with the car explosion is so unfair. Yes I would watch it on a different channel/
Why, Why, Why, I loved Dallas, great story lines, always exciting, couldn’t wait for next week. I hope they rethink their decision on this one.
Wow I really liked the new Dallas . Maybe a movie for TV to wrap it up . I would want a conclusion to the saga .
