It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Will miss this series very much!
Are you kidding me????? I have watched this show since it first aired and all the way up till now. And you cancel it…..What??? You guys making room for more stupid zombie and vampire movies…Give me a break…You just screwed up big time…
I was happily thinking it should be back on soon, only to find out it’s canceled. Really? What a complete bummer. It was one of the few well scripted and good shows left on TV. The only upside is that I can let that Direct TV subscription go now…
I am so upset that this has been canceled. I would definitely watch Dallas if were on another channel. I just loved the series and the story lines. Please try to bring it back. How will we know if Christopher is dead or alive after that car accident ?????
Thank you,
Scarlett McMahon
I would watch Dallas on any TV broadcast channel. It was a cliff hanger at the end of the last season. My wife and I wish you would bring it back! Thanks Mr. Richards
I will miss the Ewing’s. I thought the writers did a great job, the show seemed to have picked up were it left off years ago!. I was sad to find out the show was canceled!! I hope soneone will pick up and bring the show back!!!!
I would watch it on any channel. Nobody ever takes a demographic on 50_75 hear olds.!!!!!
Bring it back.
Can’t get enough Dallas. Now none at all. That’s so cruel. Bring it back. I’ll buy anything you advertise on the show. Just bring it back.
been watching Dallas since beginning, even before it was popular. At least have a TV movie bringing story lines to conclusion. I love the show
I surely wish you wouldn’t have canceled this show. It was one of my favorites. Viewership might have been down in the 18-49 demographic according to your statement, but did you consider how many viewers over 49 watch the show? We are many and we would like to see the show brought back!
You’re right on Dee. Boomers represent the largest buying power for the next 30 years but TNT has bought into mumbo jumbo.
Dallas was enjoyed by a lot of fans. It shouldn’t have been taken off the air. I miss this show. I wish it would return.
Pick it up CBS !!
I loved both the original and revised version of Dallas. I’m upset there was no closure for the latest version of the show.
I want Dallas back.
I miss Dallas. Fans should count for something when deciding to cancel a series. There are more fans of this show than warrants being cancelled. Many, many fans!!!!
This show shouldn’t have been cancelled…Bring it back!
