The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I can’t believe they cancelled this show. This show was so interesting to watch every week that it kept me on my toes. Even my daughter liked to watch this show. I’m so going to miss watching this show. Renew this show ABC!!!
I love The Family and am very upset it is cancelled. At least give us a real finale if it’s not to be renewed.
It’s a real shame they cancelled this show. I started watching it from the beginning and just about everybody I know got into it after I told them about it. I don’t know who they get to watch some of the trash that they renewed for the next season. ABC Network is going downhill fast!!!
I only recently heard of this show, was not well advertised at all. However, I watched all 12 episodes in one night, loved it so much, then heard the next day it was being cancelled. ABC always cancels great shows. Just because things aren’t being watched on tv, doesn’t mean they aren’t being streamed like crazy. Maybe they should look into streaming their shows on their website, or factor in the international fan base.

Started out very strong! But the juicy secrets are revealed too soon, and characters’ actions defy explanation at times. The actress playing the mother is a standout, however, a thoroughly terrible performance by whoever plays Det. Nina Meyer definitely detracted. Deserved cancellation.
Very disappointed to hear this. It was actually a really good show. I blame the low ratings on poor advertising. I only heard about it through word-of-mouth about six episodes in.
The network jumped the gun on cancellation. The Family got DVRed by people watching other shows, like the final episodes of The Good Wife. Now that The Good Wife is over, they would watch The Family in that time slot. It’s like they set up the show to fail from the beginning.
I am going to change to a different netwoork. ABC cancels my favorite series all the time. I am really sorry that “The Family” was cancelled. It was a new and intriguing series. NBC IS BRINGING SOME INTERESTING TITLES IN THE FALL. I am switching to NBC.
I am just sick that The Family is being cancelled. It is my favorite TV show. Can anything be done to stop this ???
Im guessinh the reason the ratings looked low were because people dvr’d it while they watched walking dead. Thats what we did. Our whole family loves this show!
This show has amazing plot twists and a great story. The writers and characters have done an incredible job. My girls and I are sad to see it go. It was a family night to watch it. I wish it wouldn’t end.

You have a great show. You should see if it was dvr’d while The Walking Dead’s season ended and if they had been gaining viewers since. At the very least, you owe us loyal viewers a complete end to this show. Can’t imagine how this show gets cancelled.
I found this series on Hulu just 2 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am very disappointed that it was cancelled. It was captivating.
I am also very disappointed! This is the 2nd abc series that I have become addicted too and has been cancelled. Last year was ressurection!! UGGGH! I guess its time to find a new show to watch!!
How disappointing that ABC has cancelled The Family. This is about the third or fourth show that I was really into that ABC cancelled. I think I’ll stick with the other networks from now on.

Love The Family and I’m so disappointeded it’s being cancelled. Every time I get truly interested in a “great” show, it gets cancelled. It’s so upsetting because there’s not that many good shows on as it is. The finale was so captivating and it ended so great, now we’ll never see another episode to find out what happens between Adam and Ben. Bad decision in cancelling a GREAT series.
OMG! The finale was suspenseful. I pray ABC makes a TV movie to end the story. We need answers. This show was very well acted and the story was good.
It’s so hard to find shows these days that aren’t “reality TV” . The family is the first show in forever that I found myself rushing home to watch. SOO disappointed it has been cancelled
I am so disappointed with ABC , loved loved The Family , this show was the highlight of my Sunday night . My coworkers and family would always watch and enjoyed talking about. Can’t say enough about the actors. First secrets and lies then this.I do not trust this network ABC

This show is a great show and very well written. My sister and I watch this show every Sunday so we will be sad that it is going. I do agree that it may be on bad time slot. Please don’t cancel this show.
