Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I loved this show and am very sad that it has been cancelled. The actors did a great job and the story was great and riveting.
cant believe this is being canceled without our answers. i would have watched countless seasons of this. not everything booms right away, it takes time. as for myself, i am very disappointed and angry.
One of the only shows that was a must see for me. Very disappointed.
When the show first started, I didn’t see how it could go very far with that plot line. Week by week, I realized just how wrong I was, that the writers could and would go in any number of directions. I’m sad to see The Family end, and I hope another network will consider picking it up.
