Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

Jenna Bans wrote the story for The Family TV series finale, “What Took So Long.” The teleplay is by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain. The episode was directed by Paul McGuigan.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Maybe you shouldn’t have putt up against all of the Zombie followers….Fear of the Walking Dead was at the same time and started a the same time. The Family was the most intelligent, dramatic, twistful show ever to be on the networks in a loooong time!!
Totally disappointing.
I can’t believe this! I look forward to watching the family every week. I’m devastated that it has been canceled now we will never know what all really happened. I would rather have not watched it at all then to be left hanging. There has to be a season 2!!

This is ridiculous. You put a suspense show out there, then cancel it. You need to recheck your line up cause you got worse out there
I can’t believe this show is going to be canceled. I’m so upset the way they left it. Don’t cancel this show, it’s one of the best shows I have seen in a long time!

I am absolutely guttered that they have cancelled this show, it was brilliant every twist and turn made the show so much more enjoyable and then to give us Adam back but then take it away is just cruel. Please some other station needs to pick up this show I definitely think it would be worth it.

C Maudal, you are right on the mark, ABC did not promote this show. It was totally set up to fail. Andrew Mccarthy was awesome, it made me remember how much I like him as an actor.
Please, please do not cancel this show! My daughters and I love it. It’s unlike any other show on TV! I look forward to Sunday nights now. There’s a twist every episode which leaves be waiting impatiently for the next episode. I am just so disappointed. Especially since this last episode showing Adam alive. Just crazy…
This show was so good. It doesn’t give off the appearance of being good, but at the end of every show, I was eager to see what will happen next. The season finale was awesome too. How do we get it back?!?

Please ABC reconsider, this is an amazing show. Each Monday me and my co-workers would discuss the episode. Another well written show gone to be replaced by some junkie reality TV show. 🙁
