The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

So disappointed! I have been enjoying the suspense. I agree maybe it’s not worth getting invested in new shows. This was a great show! I couldn’t wait to see what happened with all the twist and turns.

This is an awesome show. Twists and turns. Keeps you on the edge of your seat to see what’s next. Please bring this back. Finish what you started. Tell the rest of the story. There just isn’t enough good TV out there but this hit the nail on the head.
what is there left to watch? Meredith’s new life on Grey’s ? The Family was written like a thrilling movie and was very entertaining to watch – especially with the chilling secrets and conflicts between characters. The setting added a sense of mystery . Reconsider and focus on telling the story.

Seriously??? That’s how you will leave it….very disappointed and mad. What a way to leave us hanging, an ending like that and the show is canceled…wow, just wow.

Yes please bring it back…..since they went to the expense of filming and contract the actors/directors/ and everyone involved to the hot dog man,,,,,at least show the last of season 1……episode.
Are you kidding me, ABC??? So what in the world do you consider to be a
great show if not The Family?? You networks are all alike, you take amazing
writing & toss it straight in the trash can. What a complete waste of an amazing
storyline, season 2 could have gone so many places!!! RECONSIDER!!!!!
I have to agree!!! What a great show. I’ve had others start watching and could not wait for the next episode. Great cast and story line. I am very upset of this decision to cancel. Do you actually know what the tv viewing audience like? Apparently not. Bring it back.
This is one of the only TV series I watch and I am verrrry upset they are not going to have a season 2!!! It is such a suspenseful and we’ll made show. Bring it back!!!! 🙁

I can’t believe ABC is taking this show away. This was the best show ever. I will not watch abc again. I finally found a show in years that made me think and wonder. Please put it on another night…. or please another t.v station pick it up. I have to see what happens when Ben returns.

I cannot belive this show was canceled. ABC never gives new shows a chance, and this is why I hate getting invested in any show the put on. My gosh, could you have not given us at least one more season to see if Adam makes it home!!!
I am very disappointed that “The Family” has been cancelled!! I enjoyed this show and would love to see a second season – at least some of the loose ends tied up.
