Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Such a disappointment!!! I havent watched Tv in over 2 years because in my opinion shows these days are not what they used to be, until THE FAMILY aired. Please reconsider another season.
One of the best show on tv and their goes ABC messing up again. Hope the show is picked up by another network.

There should be a show having Adam come back. Especially after the phone call. Not fair to do to the loyal fans who did watch.
This was a very thought provoking and interesting show. Very sad that they have cancelled.
Thanks, but NO thanks, to the manglers at ABC. Yet once more, We the Viewers are served a large plate of cwap on crackers! WE LOVE THIS FANTASTIC SHOW, so of course the “geniuses” decide to cancel it. I have never been prone to hate, but I have really had it up over the top of my head with this pathetic excuse for a TV network.
Love this show, every episode has a twist I do not see coming. Please bring it back!!!
Another cancellation of one of the better shows. ABC who advises you? Obviously not the fans or real T.V. viewing audience. These are different times, if I don’t make the show I will HULU it. Bring it back!
So ABC is dropping The Family and keeping those stupid reality shows on. The Family was one of the best shows you have had on in a long time. You made a big ratings mistake.
Seriously? Yes cancel this and Blood and oil but heavens yes keep making Bachelorette and bachelor shows which are so ridiculously moronic. Way to go ABC . Should be Absolute Bullsh*t Channel .

Too good to cancel, I was shocked when I heard the news.
This is the only show that I look forward to watching on TV and I never want it to end. The writers and actors are so incredibly talented to take such a heavy and dark topic and spin it in such a way that keeps us all begging for more. The way the characters have been developed in combination with all of the twists and turns is pure genius! I’m so disappointed and hope that it’s picked up by another network. I love this show and know many who do. Why do the networks cancel good shows and keep the really stupid reality ones. Ugh.
