Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Probably going to replace it with yet another brainless, idiotic reality show or something about a Kardashian. What about viewers who want quality programming? Shame on you, ABC, for ignoring the intelligent segment of your audience!
This is a most excellent show – great dialogue, acting and scripting. Please reconsider and renew this show. We thoroughly enjoyed it and watched it religiously.
Its horrible this show was canceled. It quickly became my favorite show of the season. I just hope another network, or Netflix, or etc. will take notice and pick it up.
This was a fantastic show, especially that final episode. I can’t stop telling people about it and that they must watch. It’s a shame that quality shows get taken away while shows like the batchelor, kardashians and housewives still get to air. Total garbage.
Please bring it back.

How can you do that to me???!!! I’ve been breathlessly following The family from week to week. I was thrown a huge curve this week with Adam calling home!! And now I’ve found out there will be no season 2?!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!

This show should NOT be cancelled! I have many friends/family members who love this show and hate that it’s being cancelled. My hope is that if there are enough complaints, the show will find a home elsewhere.
Wow so you only count if you’re in that age range?? Even though there are many of us outside of that range that spend just as much if not more… I thought this was such a well acted well written show (for a change) and ABC decides to get rid of it. How disappointing that you don’t value those who have probably watched your network for years. Why not step out of the box and try programming for all different age groups… it just might pay off… this is a real miscalculation ABC!!

I have been enjoying watching The Family & disappointed to hear it is ending.
Why does a network always do this to us? Maybe your demographics for this type of show shouldn’t start with 18 years old. No wonder the ratings are low!! Have you thought about what older adults would like to watch? Come on ABC stop wasting our time with garbage like the Bachelor and Bachelorette. Those shows are for the younger generation. Please remember there are many other generations that enjoy a good drama. Bring the show back, if not, I hope another network will pick the show up.
