The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I cannot believe they are cancelling this show!!! Please, reconsider! It ended with a cliffhanger, at least give us a proper ending! I love this show.
I am soo disappointed ABC has cancelled this show!! I thought it was one of the best new shows on TV. It had twists and turns and the acting was awesome. I am very upset that we will not get to see how the story unfolds. Upset in Michigan !!!!

Wow…not a smart move ABC. This show was so great. I didn’t know it was canceled until looking up to see when the next season was going to start. The last episode was so twisted. I watch a variety of shows…with that being said this was first on my list to catch up on.. even before Empire. So sad..
I have been a fan of “The Family ” since the first episode. I was left hanging by the so called finale. It reminded me of the final episode of “The Sopranos”…. no closure….a major disappointment. I hope that the powers that be will give this show a second chance. Maybe more advertising will make people aware that the show is on Sunday night at 9pm. Please reconsider. Thank you.
I can’t believe that The Family has been cancelled. I could not wait for it to air on Sunday nights. It was a very thrilling show and now we have just been left hanging. Please ABC bring the show back for one more season so that the show can have an ending and not just leave everything unanswered.
This is a good show and not enough questions were answered. I wondered when I saw the previews how this would become a long-running series, but we need at least one more season to wrap this up. I hope ABC or someone else will pick this back up. I thought it was good, even though it’s subject matter is disturbing.
The Family is a GREAT show. It should not be cancelled. It is more intelligent and better acted than 95% of television shows. It ranks with The Good Wife and The Wire as examples of what excellent tv can be. It is a travesty to cancel this show, with acting powerhouses like Joan Allen and Andrew McCarthy, and keep inane, dull-plotted shows like The Chase. Change the time slot! Don’t cancel the show

Are you crazy! This show is great couldn’t wait for Sunday night to see it. Love blood and oil too and you cancelled that too. Everybody I know love this series. Give it a chance. Or wait till Netflix gets it and it’s a hit. Abc needs to have their head examined.
