The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

So tired of the major networks canceling great shows and ending them with cliff hangers!!!This was a great show! I really see no point in watching any new shows on the major networks! Very disappointing!

The show is great. Keeps you at the edge of your seat. No way to end it the way they did. I want to see them get caught. You kill off the reporter and have the boys on the phone at the end. And done it is. Not fair.
Please reconsider!! I really enjoyed watching, as well as my friends and family!!
This was the best show we’ve watched in A LONG TIME. So disappointed. Bring it back! Or send it to Netflix.
I am so upset that the family has been cancelled. I look forward to watching every week. The characters are awesome and iI love the timelines and twists in the storyline. I just don’t think there was enough advertisement for the show. If anyone just started watching, they would want to watch more
I am so disappointed to read The Family has been cancelled! I just watched the finale and was so excited about it I looked online to see when it starts again only to find out it isn’t returning. Crushed! I looked forward to this shows twists and turns as much as I did the walking dead. I wish they would reconsider. At least give us some closure. Can Adam and Ben both live in Govner mansion??? Give us something!
NOOOO!!! You can’t cancel ths!! This was so good. What about Adam returning to his family?? If you want to cancel the show then at least have another episode or two to make sense. We have a group at work that watches this and now you have left us angry with the ending!

I love love this show..I can’t believe your taking it off..What is wrong with you guys..It always has me on the edge of my seat and glued to the TV..Please bring it back!!!
This show was amazing, nothing ever like it on television. It made you feel uncomfortable, provided intrigue and always left you in a state of suspense! It may have had too much competition with the other walking dead being on, etc. Probably should have tried to air it on another night, like Monday or Friday. So sad to see the show go!!! Reconsider please!!!!!
Please bring the family back….how can you leave us with a finale like this, then cancel it….Give it another season
