The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I am so dissapointed with ABC for canceling This awesome show. They also canceled my other favorite “Nashville”. I hope another network or even NETFLIX picks it up.
I can’t believe The Family has been canceled! I’m very upset. ABC continues to torture its supporters. You get us emotionally involved in your shows and then abruptly end them. All My Children, Revenge, The Family and a host of other great shows, while you leave horrible shows like the Bachelor/Bachelorette on. You should listen to your followers. At this point, I feel like why watch an abc series? It’ll probably be cancelled anyway.
Please bring back The Family. This is a really good show!
This is the exact reason I have a hard time starting new shows. The networks don’t give them a chance anymore. I am so bummed that they cancelled this show, I wish they would give it another chance.

We are SO angry that this show is being cancelled! Is there some kind of petition we can start to get the attention of the ABC execs? This show is amazing! It has been a long time since a network show has grabbed my attention and kept it for an entire season! If they are, in fact, cancelling The Family, they’re making a HUGE mistake!

You haven’t really given this show a chance. I started watching through word of mouth so bring it back so others can get a chance to see what all of the hype is about.
So they cancelled The Family and kept the View. That’s a REAL special kind of stupid
It is totally ridiculous to cancel this show without even finishing the season. This is a good show that I have been following from the beginning. I am very disappointed in ABC
I am so disappointed that a network would just cancel the show without warning and without a satisfying conclusion for viewers. I really liked this series. I will think twice before I watch anything else on ABC, ever again.

I can’t believe they cancel this!! The networks have no respect for the viewers at all, I am tired of shows I love disappearing without a proper ending. I watch the shows sit through the dang commercials and buy the products and am treated rudely with out any thought of how the viewers feel. Time to stop watching these new shows and buying the products if they can’t treat their audience with respect!
The series left so many cliffhangers!!! How are we to know how it truly ended. I’m upset that I followed something that would leave no closure.
I absolutely loved this show & think it’s terrible that we don’t get an ending. Why should we invest in the shows & then you drop it. The actors are excellent. Please pick it back up
We are so mad that ABC would cancel this show. We stayed tuned in and even watched on Hulu inbetween weeks. We hardly watch tv but this kept us a great conversation. We told all of our friends. Reading alot of these post are all of what we feel. Shame to be let down. We are going to sign that petition and we can do without watching ABC. BRING THE FAMILY BACK PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
