The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Add me to the list of those who will not watch another ABC show. The Family was better than 99% percent of what’s on t.v. It was well-scripted with a stellar cast and each episode packed a powerful emotional punch. I feel cheated by ABC for not letting it develop and giving it more time to find its following. It would have.
I don’t want Family to be canceled, my mom, sister and I wait every Sunday…. This show must go on. I want another season
ABC I hate you!! You cancel The Family, but continue on with Grey’s Anatomy’s ADD (that’s After Derek’s Death). I only get to watch on Hulu, so I hope they save this show like they have saved so many others.
Sure don’t renew the family, but keep all the junk reality shows on because they cost nothing to produce…they don’t have to pay big stars a lot of money….abc big shots should really get their heads checked….maybe I can do it???
Please please please do not cancel this show! Everyone I know watches this and are hooked! It’s the BEST show on television! Please ABC reconsider. I am so sick of getting hooked on good shows and them getting cancelled! I am really beyond shocked that this was cancelled.

One of the best shows in awhile. They did an excellent job of building a storyline and making me sit on the edge of my seat waiting for more. I hope they reconsider or someone else takes over.

I have enjoyed the clever twists and turns of this short series; so sorry that it was canceled, especially after the final show — what a surprise!
Say it ain’t so! this show had so many twists I didn’t see coming, the writing was spectacular.. It just kept getting better every week. I loved this show almost as much as my favorite – the Americans. Please reconsider.

I absolutely love this show! It’s the best series on in awhile. I’m getting to where I hate TV, any show I love gets cancelled! So annoying
I could not believe when I read that ABC cancelled this series! It is the best series on tv right now. I have not watched any new series that is this good. Blind Spot is getting old but The Family always left you hanging and the episode May 15th left so many people talking. It was so good! You never knew what to expect on The Family and the plot kept getting better and better! Please reconsider renewing this series. I could not wait for Sunday nights to watch it.
I was so emotionally involved in this show. I couldn’t hardly wait a week to see the next episode. Now it’s cancelled! Along with thousands of other people, I am tired of getting hooked on a show and then boom it’s gone. Maybe that’s why the ratings were bad, people are scarred to watch abc. Making a series is a commitment, you should start unless your going to finish.
I CAN NOT believe The Family was cancelled. They need to do another viewing count because geez who doesn’t watch it? I know tons of people that have saved it and binge watched it. They must do another season!!!!
