Felicity was one of JJ Abrams most loved series. It launched the careers of Keri Russell, Scott Foley and Scott Speedman, but will fans ever see a reboot of the series?
Not likely, according to JJ Abrams.
He spoke about the possibility of the rebooting the series at the Winter TCA’s, and he loved Felicity. He does not want to bring it back though. He would like to create something similar though.
According to Entertainment Weekly, he said:
“I do feel like I’ve been working on a number of reboots or sequels, enough so I really feel like I’ve had my share of those. I look forward to telling new stories and introducing new characters just because I’m hungry for that. I did love doing [Felicity] so much and I loved working with those people. I know it was a different time and everyone was just starting in that way, but that was such a special time working with that cast and that crew. I do miss that feeling of doing a show that is a romantic and smaller, intimate drama-comedy. I would love to do that — [though] not necessarily a Felicity reboot.”
A reboot or a revival of the series would be difficult. Keri Russell currently stars on The Americans, and she recently announced that she is pregnant. Scott Foley stars on Scandal, and Scott Speedman will return to television with Animal Kingdom.
Were you a fan of Felicity? Would you want the series to return? Tell us what you think.
Noooo!! I loved Felicity and was so excited when I saw the entire series was on Shomi – which I binge-watched over Christmas. I was the same age as the characters when it was on and would love to see where they are now.
I think JJ Abrams should think about a movie starring Keri Russell, using her unique ability to communicate so intimately to the viewer her intense emotions. What made Felicity great was Keri, with a very complementary cast, too, of course. Her abilities would translate into a 40 yr old character easily.
