A musical comedy, ABC has been promoting their Galavant TV show as a “4-week comedy extravaganza” but they haven’t ruled out producing a second season. Will it be a ratings smash or a flop? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
On Galavant, a dashing hero (Joshua Sasse) once lost the love of his life (Mallory Jansen) to an evil king (Timothy Omundson). It’s now time for him to exact his revenge and restore his “happily ever after” — while singing. The rest of the cast includes Vinnie Jones, Karen David, Luke Youngblood, Ben Presley, Daniel Evans, Stanley Townsend, and Genevieve Allenbury.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: Galavant has been renewed for a second season. Details here.
1/18 update: How’s Galavant been doing? Should it be renewed or cancelled?
Final season averages: 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.83 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Galavant TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled? Renewed for a second season?
I loved it, my daughter and I looked forward to watching it every Sunday. She will be very disappointed when she cant watching next Sunday. I would love it if it was renewed. Its refreshing and full of surprising and unexpected turns in the plot.
Loved it! Just fun, nothing intense, no guns being pointed at people,or bloody mangled bodies. I think it was ingenious and just plain relaxing to watch. I did think the 1st two episodes were the best. It makes me dad this kind of off beat thing doesn’t seem to last.
So happy to see the upswing in viewers for the finale. Hopefully ABC will see that as a positive sign. I’m sure viewers were DVR’ing the episodes during the football championship and awards shows. Not so much competition for the finale meant more people watching it live. Such a delightful show – cheeky, funny, entertaining – and a hugely talented cast of previously unknown to me actors, with the exception of Timothy Omundson who surprised me with talents I didn’t know he had and stole every scene he was in.

Love the show! Great casting and excellent writing. Quirky, sly humor. Agree that there is nothing like this on TV and certainly no comedy more clever. Please bring Galavant back. Half-hour episodes would be just too short but I’ll take as much Galavant as ABC will give me. You’ve got a winner, ABC, don’t drop the ball!
My son and I looked forward to watching it every week. We hope it comes back!
I hope the show is renewed. I loved it.
Please please please renew!! There is nothing like this on TV. Every show & every channel is doing the same thing. This one is different, clever, hysterical & fun!
very funny. Nothing like it on tv. Love that type of humor, very creative, subtle , and refreshing. Please keep it on tv. Love the show. Even my hubby loves it and we have different tastes in humor.
I’m loving it! The songs are clever and the jokes non-stop. I usually don’t like shows that so obviously break the “fourth wall” or wink to modern humor from period settings. Either I’m lowering my standards or this show is really innovative.
Clever show that goes beyond some of the simplistic jokes of typical sitcoms. Sorry to see that on only runs 4 weeks.
If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with B— S—!!
wonderful, one more person that likes it! I love that it’s witty, nonsensical, and hilarious. hopefully it gets renewed.
Funny, unique, and corny! Good mix of humor and singing. You never know who will appear as a guest star, like Psych. Fills a much needed gap in programming! Please renew!
Another home run as far as I’m concerned!
Thank God, Mel Brooks is back !
Seriously, the songs, acting, everything was perfect. The little ribald references were great as well.
I’m hooked !!!!!!
Wasn’t even aware it was on.
Sadly, I don’t think it was well advertised or marketed in the weeks leading up to it. For the most part, I saw very little other than a handful of 15 or 30 second snippets that it was coming, but no real information on what it was about. None of my friends were aware of it until I started talking about it and are now eager to see it themselves. I’d love to see a well advertised in advance marathon of the series from beginning to finale so that anyone who missed this delightful series has the opportunity to see… Read more »
We ( my family) absolutely loved it! Reminds us of a Monty Python and The Princess Bride smash-up. Wonderful humor. Great casting sets and costumes. Tons of fun.
