Despite low and declining ratings that would have seen some series cancelled, FOX has renewed its Gotham TV show for a fifth season. The season Batman prequel’s season five renewal will ensure it has a good sized syndication package but it will also be the show’s final year.
A FOX crime drama, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Erin Richards, Camren Bicondova, Drew Powell, Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Chris Chalk, Michael Chiklis, John Doman, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The high-action procedural explores the early days of then-police detective James Gordon (McKenzie) and iconic Gotham City characters — before they became legends.
Gotham: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of Gotham is averaging a 0.78 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.58 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 28% and down by 22%, respectively. Check its performance against the other FOX TV shows.
The fifth and final season will focus on Bruce Wayne’s transformation into Batman. Word is that it likely won’t air until midseason.
A statement from the producers states “the fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

A major bummer to know that the show will not be renewed past 2018-2019. At least though it is at a point where the creators and writers can bring it to a satisfying conclusion, rather than a sudden cancellation with no good ending.
I absolutely LOVE “GOTHAM” Very good characters and acting! I will be very disappointed when it ends!

With all of the boring reality programs on TV these days, it is refreshing to fine a series like “Gotham” with thrilling and imaginative writing to entertain its followers. I am glad that it adheres to the original DC vision of Bruce Wade’s progression to becoming the “Batman”.
We love Gotham! We tape it and never miss it. Why do you cancel great shows like Gotham and replace with hohum boring shows? Gotham is a great entertaining program.
I am saddened to see it cancelled. I thought it was a far superior “super hero genre” show than any of the many shows on the CW channel. R.I.P.
We watch this show every week. We record it even if we can’t watch it live. Very sad to see it end. Believe that overall it is well written and should continue. Bring it back somehow. We will watch the 5th season.
Gotham has been a nail biter since the beginning. We look forward to watching every week that it is on. The writers keep us guessing as to what the next twist will be. Sad to hear it is going to end.

Love Gotham. Sad to hear it will be cancelled after Bruce Wayne will fulfill the role of Batman. What a sham. Just like COLONY (Brilliant Show) shows without a lot of political BS, get the boot.
Been watching Gotham since the beginning. Great show. Now that it looks like Bruce Wayne will become Batman it will end. What a shame!

Gotham is a great show before the beginning of Batman. It is twisted always keeps you guessing what is going to happen next. I watched this show every week from the beginning hope to see it continue.
