Van Williams, star of the 1960s series The Green Hornet, has died at the age of 82, Variety reports.
Williams played the titled role on the ABC show, which followed the adventures of the playboy-turned-crimefighter. The cast also included Bruce Lee as The Green Hornet’s sidekick, Kato. The program ran for one season between 1966 and 1967.
Born in Texas, Williams got his start in show business when he was discovered by producer Mike Todd in 1957. From there, he starred on the ABC detective series Bourbon Street Beat and Surfside 6 before landing the iconic role of The Green Hornet.
After that series ended, Williams went on to appear in several classic TV series such as The Beverly Hillbillies, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and The Rockford Files.
