Just in time for Thanksgiving, Bryan Fuller has served up something tasty. The Hannibal creator has brought back Gillian Anderson for a Hannibal-themed PETA ad.
The spot, which features some of the sumptuous cinematography that made the series stand out, features Anderson sitting down to dine on her own legs. The eerie ad was inspired by Fuller’s own personal decision to become a pescatarian due to the graphic nature of Hannibal‘s delicacies.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said, “Writing Hannibal made me realize that human beings and other animals have more similarities than differences. It had a direct impact on how I view meat and what I put in my body. Eating another sentient being is no different than eating another human being, in my mind. The trauma of Hannibal cuts both ways.”
Though Hannibal was cancelled by NBC after its third season, Fuller is back to work. He is currently working on Starz’ adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and the NBC revival of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories.
