Marti Perkins won’t have to worry about how to pay for another year at Lancer University. Hellcats has been cancelled after one season on The CW.
Based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders, Hellcats revolves around a pre-law student (Aly Michalka) who must join her university’s cheerleader team to win a scholarship to stay in school. The show also features Ashley Tisdale, Gail O’Grady, Heather Hemmens, Matt Barr, Robbie Jones, and Sharon Leal.
The started off the season back in early September with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a 2.1 rating in the 18-34 female demo and about three million viewers.

Unfortunately, those numbers started to slide pretty quickly and late last month, Hellcats fell as low as a 0.4 in the 18-49 viewers, a 0.7 in the young female demo and fewer than a million viewers.
While it’s not the lowest-rated series on The CW when you look at the season averages, it’s been in a decline all season and showed no signs of turning around.
As a result, the network has decided to cancel Hellcats. All the 22 episodes of the series have aired with the de facto series finale running last night.

I really only waited for gale harold to be on. He looked so hot. I felt sorry for vanesssa . But hey maybe another network might pick it up. Build a better story
line . Stop taking long brakes. you can lose people faster. Stop following the same old story line it get boring. But hey maybe gale will have better look in the new series

The ratings kept dropping because it went on hiatus for 6-7 weeks and then came back in a different timeslot (moved from Wed to Tues). If people can’t figure out when it’s on, then they can’t watch! It’s usually the kiss of death when a network moves a show because they don’t know what to do with it. Well how about giving them a chance. I am super bummed to find out that Hellcats is cancelled. Granted some of the story lines were cheesy, but most of them had a good backing behind them.
The finale is unfinished. For the weekly viewers, like myself, what will happen to the characters? Vanessa was fired???? This can’t be.
This sucks. One of the reasons why the views kept on dropping was because people jsut watch the tv show online because its easier. All my friends at school watch this show. I don’t want hellcats to get cancelled because I LOVE this show! its amazing and entertaining and thats what tv should be. CW your making a big mistake.
im so upset!!! i watch hellcats online and i wish i would have caught it on tv so i could have helped… i was thinking as i watched the last episode i am so happy this show is on because it helped me miss being apart of a team. this was beginning to become one of my favorite shows. i think it should come back but on a smaller network. maybe abc family or even lifetime. i watch them channels a lot more than i watch the cw. look what happened to the game.. nobody watches that channel so we… Read more »

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!! Why is it cancelled?!? i don’t get it, i loved this show!! it wasn’t as cliche as every other modern soap opera out there!! i loved the fact that aly and aj were back together finally, just like old times with their cd. this is a horrible decision. horrible.
I’m glad it’s cancelled. The CW cancelled every good show on their network in favor of just having 1hr shows, and all those 1hr shows are just garbage full of sex and dull cliches aimed at teens. I would rather have the WB back. And Hellcats looked stupid just by what I saw in the promos. I never watched it and I’m glad I never have to see it again. But I hope the actors/actresses can get better work.
this makes me really quite sad…I really loved this show. All of the cast was amazing and it was nice to see Ashley Tisdale step away from the whole disney thing, the same can be said for Aly Michalka. The show had a good storyline and I wanted to see what was going to happen with the characters Marti and Jullian her former law professor.
I really wish that this show would have survived.

i stand by my thoughts that the worst thing that ever happened to primetime tv was the writer guild strike a few years ago. Since then most of the shows introduced have not been able to survive for more than one or two and if lucky 3 seasons – and the viewership for shows that existed before that has diminished. All the good shows are getting cancelled, are on the brin of getting cancelled or are not predicted to last very long into the future.
