HGTV ORDERS EIGHT EPISODES OF “ISLAND HUNTERS”
NEW YORK – January 30, 2013 – Carefree island living has captured the attention of millions of viewers with HGTV’s new series Island Hunters. Originally launched as two half-hour specials, the series focuses on homebuyers looking for a slice of paradise on their own private island. HGTV granted an immediate green light to Island Hunters after more than 2.3 million viewers P25-54 tuned in on New Year’s Day. Currently in production, eight additional half-hour episodes will premiere later this year.
“With the improving housing market, we’ve seen renewed interest in our high-end real estate fantasy programming,” said HGTV’s General Manager Kathleen Finch. “During cold winter months, our viewers dream of sunshine, summertime and luxury living. With the excellent ratings the first two episodes of Island Hunters received, it was an easy green light for us.”
More beautiful islands in locations like the Bahamas, the west coast and even the northeast will be on tap in upcoming episodes of the show.
