On the heels of reversing its decision to renew Z: The Beginning of Everything for a second season, Amazon has cancelled The Last Tycoon TV show, after only one season. The drama series — inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel of the same name — comes from writer and director Billy Ray.
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, The Last Tycoon stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dominique McElligott, Enzo Cilenti, Mark O’Brien, Jessica De Gouw, Koen De Bouw, Jennifer Beals, Saul Rubinek, and Eion Bailey. The period drama centers on “Hollywood’s Golden Boy” Monroe Stahr (Bomer). The young producer struggles with studio boss Pat Brady (Grammer), over the path they should take. The two clash, when the Nazi regime informs them that they will have to abide by Hitler’s standards, if they want to release their films in Germany.
Deadline has confirmed The Last Tycoon TV series cancellation.

My husband and I both loved this show and it takes a lot to get him interested in a tv show, we were hooked on it! We are really hoping they change their mind and continue this series.
I loved this show, when I started I couldn’t stop. Now I find out something so perfect has been cancelled! I’m decistated. There’s so much crap out there, why does one of the good ones have to go?

I am so disappointed that Amazon cancelled “The Last Tycoon”. Why? I enjoyed the show. Excellent storyline and cast. Was looking forward to another season. Please reconsider your decision.
Amazon couldn’t squeeze just 9 or 10 additional episodes from what Fitzgerald left behind? A well written, well acted and well directed series usually always lose out. The Last Tycoon was all those things and more. Shame on you Amazon.
I have never commented on the cancellation of a show but I really enjoyed this one and I am disappointed that Amazon decided to cancel it.

I liked Matt on WC, but the trailer for this show just had me shrugging my shoulders.
Totally bummed, thought for sure it would get renewed. Clearly it didn’t have nearly enough viewers to keep it afloat. Too bad as it really was very good in all aspects, storyline, pace of show, actors, scenery, costumes. Matt Bomer is so good, I hope he shows up on a new show.
