On the heels of reversing its decision to renew Z: The Beginning of Everything for a second season, Amazon has cancelled The Last Tycoon TV show, after only one season. The drama series — inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel of the same name — comes from writer and director Billy Ray.
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, The Last Tycoon stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dominique McElligott, Enzo Cilenti, Mark O’Brien, Jessica De Gouw, Koen De Bouw, Jennifer Beals, Saul Rubinek, and Eion Bailey. The period drama centers on “Hollywood’s Golden Boy” Monroe Stahr (Bomer). The young producer struggles with studio boss Pat Brady (Grammer), over the path they should take. The two clash, when the Nazi regime informs them that they will have to abide by Hitler’s standards, if they want to release their films in Germany.
Deadline has confirmed The Last Tycoon TV series cancellation.

great show!!! great cast and great acting. Their are so many good directions the show could take. Very,very sorry Amazon decided to cancel the show. Maybe its time to see if amazon knows what its doing before investing my time. BAD CALL AMAZON

Loved this series! We are hungry for Season 2!! It’s such a well-developed stories and the cast seemed perfect.
Sad and disappointed on the cancellation of the last tycoon
I love this show. How can they cancel it and keep others not so good? Maybe some people don’t want to thunk too much when they watch tv. This show is smart, well acted, and historical. Amazon, please change your decision.

Great show. Cannot believe it was cancelled. I binge watched it and really enjoyed it. Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer and Lilly Collins were great. Hopefully Amazon will reconsider.
I’m truly upset that this series has been canceled after just one season. Hoping that Amazon will change its mind and continue with The Last Tycoon. With so many terrible shows on TV, this has been a great watch. Please reconsider.

My wife andI really enjoyed the cast and show – were looking to see when season 2 would come out when we saw they had cancelled. Was any reason given? It is a real shame.

I thought the Show was outstanding !!! IT was a great period piece & a great cast of actors !!! I am shocked & stunned by this premature cancellation to an excellent show !!!
