On the heels of reversing its decision to renew Z: The Beginning of Everything for a second season, Amazon has cancelled The Last Tycoon TV show, after only one season. The drama series — inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel of the same name — comes from writer and director Billy Ray.
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, The Last Tycoon stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dominique McElligott, Enzo Cilenti, Mark O’Brien, Jessica De Gouw, Koen De Bouw, Jennifer Beals, Saul Rubinek, and Eion Bailey. The period drama centers on “Hollywood’s Golden Boy” Monroe Stahr (Bomer). The young producer struggles with studio boss Pat Brady (Grammer), over the path they should take. The two clash, when the Nazi regime informs them that they will have to abide by Hitler’s standards, if they want to release their films in Germany.
Deadline has confirmed The Last Tycoon TV series cancellation.

WHAT? No season 2 ? I just binge watched this series and cannot begin to imagine WHY Amazon would cancel . Terrific cast and different story line. PLEASE RECONSIDER AMAZON!
It was a great show! Disappointed no second season.
This is a great show, please DON’T cancel. This is truly good TV, with all the trash being done on the major networks, give the Baby Boomers something to watch. Reality TV is NOT for everyone.
All the crummy shows out there and they cancel this? The obviously don’t listen to their audience.
Great drama, excellent character development, some intelligent suspense at times, very good acting. Cannot imagine why this got cancelled!

I just finished watching Season 1. I loved it! Big mistake not making a Season 2. It has great acting and a storyline everyone loves; life and trials of Hollywood…..
I really enjoyed watching this show. It had all of the necessary ingredients for a terrific series; great cast, story, production, costumes, drama, romance, all of it. Too bad Amazon made the wrong decision and cancelled this show. Could have been a long and prosperous run. I was really looking forward to the next season.

This drama series was wonderful to watch, a great period piece, excellent cast & riveting story line…what a shame Amazon had a real winner in its hands…
