Sometimes the truth hurts — especially when it comes to television ratings. After three seasons, FOX has cancelled Lie to Me.
Starring Tim Roth, Lie to Me revolves around Cal Lightman and members of The Lightman Group. They’re a team of specialists who help law enforcement agencies uncover the truth by using applied psychology. Others in the cast include Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, Hayley McFarland, and Mekhi Phifer.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. That was down from season one and the series found itself on the bubble for renewal. FOX ended up giving the TV series another chance and renewed it for 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, season three didn’t perform nearly as well as season two. It premiered last October to a 2.1 rating in the demo and 5.86 million. Viewership eroded in subsequent weeks and FOX declined to give the show a full season order. Lie to Me then hit a new series low in January, registering a meager 1.5 rating and 5.43 million viewers.

In its final weeks on the air, viewers seemed to rally behind it and Lie to Me had its best ratings of the season — a 2.5 in the demo and 7.67 million.
Though the ratings had come way down, FOX execs claimed that they still valued the TV series and saw it as a solid utility player. Showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Now, after three seasons on the air, the series is over. FOX has officially cancelled Lie to Me after 48 episodes. All of the installments have aired. Though there are too few episodes for a traditional syndication package, the first two seasons have already been released on DVD.

Removing the one show that actually keeps you glued to the TV for an our,and makes you part of that specific investigation…I’ve never had that done to me by any TV show. Please do all of us a favor and bring back the show…or would you rather broadcast another sitcom with fake laughing people in the back ground
Just discovered the series on Netflix. It is a real shame the show has been canceled. I would have definitely tuned in for the show if I was aware of it. Is there a possibility of at least finishing the main story line?
I just can’t believe the show got cancelled, that is so stupid!!!!!!!!!! Bring it back for God’s sake, at least finish it properly with Season 4, Geees!!!!!!!!! What’s wrong with people? The TV is full of stupid, idiotic crap, and finally an intelligent show and it gets cancelled. It’s not always about the money!!!

why can’t they just sell it to netflix and make it a netflix series like orange is the new black or the peaky blinders??? i am a military house wife and adore netflix!!! hella P/O that they canceled it without an end… jeez just make 13 more episodes to PROPERLY wrap everything up… PROPERLY not some thrown together crap of 3 more episodes like a wham bam thank you ma’am

I love this show, i don’t understand these ratings, the show is amazing the actors all the cast is amazing, and even if it’s the end of it do it properly!!!! make the end!! great great tv series!!!

I love Lie to Me. I watch it on Netflix nearly daily and I would’ve watched it through 8 seasons and would love to have seen the evolution of the characters as well.
Binge watched all of the episodes on Netflix. Loved everything about this show. Can’t understand why it didn’t have better ratings considering how much tripe there is on TV these days.

Lie to Me was my favourite show it should have never been cancelled. Season 3 was my favourite. I loved the way it ended but I wanted to know if Cal was going to tell Gillian how he felt. Lie to Me season 4 should have been aired.
Lie to me is the best show I’ve ever watched. My mother loves it and my friends. They did not have to cancel it. 95% of the votes said that the show shouldnt have gotten cancelled. There was nothing wrong with that show. Like make another season. that show was a damn good show and deserves a comeback and a proper ending.
This show was fantastic . I know it’s been off the air for a while now, but I still think it needs to come e back on it have something similar to it. Ugh.the show did not have a proper ending. It wasn’t a cliff hanger and it wasn’t solid. It felt unfinished. This is why you need to bring Lie To Me back on the air. To give the series the proper ending it deserves.
Lie to me, is a true and suspenseful drama which compiles truth of the human expression and the interrogation tactics that are used for heat of the monment programming, the reason the ratings dropped was not its concepts, but lack of awareness that the corporate providers gave to the fans of the show. Bring it back!! Don’t think Fix should stop airing it its a brilliant show with great actors. Love this show watched all episodes in 2 weeks! Allow them to do season 4 I’m sure they’ll get more viewers this time.
Watching the whole season again for 3rd time!!! Miss this show!!! Hoping there will be more. Or maybe netflix can buy it in. 🙂
