We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

Lone Star was my favorite new show. Cannot believe it has been cancelled. Hope someone else picks it up!
It doesn’t make any sense, but then I guess it does.
Good writing, good acting, good story and it’s pulled after 2 episodes.
Typical network bull sh&t; catering to the lowest common denominator.
Sad to see it go.
i loved the first 2 episodes…i was waiting all week for the 3rd episode!!! 🙁 soo disappointed…
I really liked this show. Very different. I don’t think they gave it a chance. There are so many new shows out this year it takes a while for everyone to figure out what to watch. I hope they reconsider. The plot, characters and actors were wonderful!!!
I thought it was one of the best new shows this year. Premise was great and actors were terrific. Why do they cancel shows so quickly before people even have a chance to find it? Especially when it’s up against established well-watched competition. Give the show another chance in another time slot!
I liked that show too! It didn’t hardly get a chance. It was something different than reality, cops, or lawyers.
Who decides these things and why? I believe the nielson ratings are flawed and does not adequately portray what America wants to see. Remember the cancellation of Star Trek in the 60’s? Someday, somehow, a voting system for the people should be in acted. Just like politics, let the people choose what they want to see. How many great shows have been axed? We may never know, because the power is not for we the people to have.
My wife and I loved the show. We are really bummed that Fox decided to take it off. Please reconcider airing it again.
It’s too bad the show was cancelled. I actually liked the first 2 episoded.
They seem to forget about Monday night football and all that was watching that and NONE of the TV shows.
This show would have been better if it was made into a movie.
I also liked the show. I think it deserves another shot – it was aired against DWTS and thus the low ratings. Maybe anothe day another time slot and it would work. The episodes that I show had me intrigued.
This show kept you on your seat! Bring it back! They keep the STUPID Snookies.
I loved this show. So different from anything else on tv. Was very interested to see where the writers would take it. So sad to see it cancelled!
I LOVED THIS SHOW THANKS A LOT. VERY RUDE. EMAIL ME AND TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED AFTER.
