We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

I loved the show and am so disappointed on it’s cancellation! Hoping they will give it another chance.
My Husband & I really liked it & we started making it our family show watching it with my father & brother as well. I think the problem was the time slot, competing against Dancing with the Stars. I really hope you bring it back! Also..I hope they count DVR views because I never like shows live!
Loved the show! much better than other news shows (such as Running Wild). Hope Fox will react and get it back (maybe another day of the week would bring more audience?)
I’m so disappointed! I was looking forward to what what going to happen next! I really loved the plot and the actors! So sad that it was cancelled.
I thought the show was great. Just thought maybe they were changing the time slot for Lie to me. It reminded me of Dallas a little bit. Con men trying to bring down a big wheel tycoon. Hoping the remaining espisodes will be aired. Give it a chance to make a comeback . I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
I enjoyed the show and was very interested to see if and when he was going to get caught.
What kind of decision is this? Only after two episodes? How does the show even have time to build an audience let alone rating? Poor decision by Fox. Let the season ride. Release the rest of the episodes at least. And we wonder where all the good shows go.
i thought the show was great and had a lot of potential.
I loved it and he was really hot! Don’t cancel after 2 episodes. I mean damn, if you are going to promote it FOREVER then at least let us watch it. They have previews on for like 6 months before a show even premiers, figure it out then.
Too bad!! Most interesting new show this season and a great change of pace from police procedurals.
Aw, I’m disappointed. I was wondering why it wasn’t on this week. SO much better than the other new shows I saw on other channels, like Chase and The Event. I was really looking forward to this show. So sad to see it cancelled. 🙁
One of the best New Series! It figures, finally a quality series and noboby was watching? I think perhaps it was up against other more well known shows? I was looking forward to watching & couldn’t beleive that they didn’t give it a chance!
I loved the show, sorry it was canceled….was looking for the time slot when I saw it was out!
Looked forward to something a little different….too bad.
I loved it! The suspense at the end of the episode reminded me of Prison Break. Wondering how he would get out of the situation.
I was enjoying the show. I was searching for it, couldn’t find it, and just found out it was cancelled. What a shame. I think it had potential. There are certainly some other shows that should be cancelled, but this wasn’t one of them.
