We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

WOW fox is stupid that show was awesome im pissed its not on anymore!!!!!!!! and to replace it with lie to me WOW!! only good shows fox has is HOUSE ,Family Guy And COPS!!! bring back lonestar bring back lonestar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree between Monday Night Football and Dancing with the Stars…But
Another night this show is so worth it…Come on Fox Get your Crap together
I am very sorry to see lonestar cancelled they do this to to many shows and leave us hanging like Heroes and Las vegas with no ending
It was the fatal flaw in the main character – his infidelity. Women (mostly) just aren’t going to get behind a protagonist like that unless he’s an out and out bad guy, like JR Ewing. Once he married the second girl, the series was doomed.
Great show but hard to compete with viewship when you have Monday Night Football and Dancing with the Stars airing at the same time. Needed to air on another night.
I really liked the show, bring it back!!!!
The best new show of the season, call everyone and told them to watch can’t believe it was cancelled. Lead actor was great had you on his side immediately
For ONCE Fox had a really great, thoughtful, and well written show with a strong potential and a very good casting…
I guess that’s why they cancelled it.
They hire morrons.
I tuned in to the show on the second episode and loved it! I was looking for it last week, and now I know it was cancelled. I think Fox has made a big mistake! They need to air it again. Sometimes it takes viewers a few weeks to find the shows. I told some of my family about the show and now it’s gone! Rethink this cancellation Fox!
I thought the show was great
Fox always makes terrible decisions with their TV shows. This show had plenty of potential… If I was in charge I’d have em finish the season and air the whole thing after christmas… with enough publicity.
MOOOOOO! I guess the cows would rather watch shows like 2.5 men with lame cliche jokes and pathetic laugh track. I prefer more original ideas. Lone Star was at least more original. Right now, I’m following The Event, too. It’s okay writing and average acting, but it has some intrigue. Maybe FOX will consider the remaining three episodes against something other than a C-list and non-celebrities dance show.
I really enjoyed the show, can’t believe that is was cancelled already. Who does that? I also started watching the Event , the previews looked great however having a hard time getting into it. Lonestar grabbed me imediately. Fox, you really should have given this a fair shot. This had an interesting and refreshing plot with likeable characters. I would really love to watch good , entertaining , interesting TV like Lonestar and not be forced to watch reality TV and game shows.
you dumb asses bring the show back
Couple of ideas…
1. Networks have to commit to at least one full season before airing a new show.
2. Why not post it online. If airtime is to expensive.
3. How about getting a nelson rating system that keeps up with the times…um..like dvrs
4. How about forming a preview group out of people with brains instead of pot resin.
