We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

Very disappointing. I was hoping for a replacement for “24”. You guys didn’t even give Lone Star a chance!!
Loved the show. Where’d it go!?!
Loved the show! It was my me and my husbands favorite new show this season. We are very dissappointed and wish fox would bring it back!
What did Fox think was going to happen when they aired it at the same time as NBC’s “Event” which NBC had been touting for months? Lonestar was a great show with a great cast; I feel for James Wolk – the guy is a fantastic actor. Boos, hisses and curses upon Fox. The fools who put it on on Monday night at 9 should be fired!
All is going according to our plan. The people of earth are becoming stupider and stupider. Cancelling Lone Star is our best proof yet that we are ready to proceed with plan ten. Muhaahaaahaahahahaaaa!
I want the show back.I liked it and I am very disappointed it has been canceled. I was excited to see James Wolk on a new series. He was portrayed on a Hallmark movie, about a kid FROM ST LOUIS who has terets syndrome. BRING BACK LONESTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to a least get to see all the episodes. I hate it when they start one and then cancel, at least finish the first season out.
We loved it. Finally we found a show that we looked forward to watching from the beginning of the season and I was shocked that it was removed. I don’t think they gave it a chance. I think it needed more hype than it got. It is WAY better than a lot of the shows that are airing now. Please put it back on and give it another chance.
Very diappointed they cancelled, they did not even give people a chance to start watching. The show rocked it would have caught on.
R U KIDDING ME?!?!? GREAT SHOW. THEY DIDNT EVEN GIVE IT A CHANCE…..Sounds like POLITICS as usual. Whoever canceled it needs to he FIRED!!!!
I have been waiting for 2 -3 weeks for it to come back on.I am so dissappointed
show was just getting good… thanks a lot fox… give it one more try.. two episodes doesn’t mean anything
The only problem with Lone Star was that it aired at the same time as a zillion other new shows so everyone was still sorting out what to watch and when. I wish FOX would bring it back once all the other new shows sort out where they should be positioned.
Superb acting! Wolk is a bright star on TV’s horizon. I suspect the basic premise of the story ran afoul of middle-American values: It was morally bankrupt…but was redemption in the making? We will never know now. Damn it!
So sad. I have been wondering why I couldn’t find the show, I thought it was because of baseball. I have told others to watch for it. How disappointing.
I was surprised FOX canceled the show so quickly. Too quickly in my opinion. I started watching when it first aired. I thought the show was great and now that I told all my friends about it, they don’t even air the third episode. Lame. LoneStar was unique and catchy!
