Just this week, we reported CBS had cancelled Mike & Molly. Now, Deadline is reporting that there may be a very small window to save the sitcom.
The sixth season of Mike & Molly premieres on January 6th.
According to Deadline, CBS has until February 1st to renew contracts with the cast and the show’s producing studio, Warner Bros TV. After February 1st, the last day of filming for the series’ sixth season, the cast will be free to sign onto other projects.
When news of the series cancellation broke, stars Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell expressed disappointment and surprise. The sixth season was reduced from 22 episodes to 13 before the cancellation was announced. Whether or not CBS or the cast decide to renew their contracts, executive producer Chuck Lorre has promised there will be closure for the sitcom.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Mike & Molly? Would you like to see another season?
