It seems the fog has burned off. Spike has cancelled The Mist TV show after just one season. Based on the Stephen King novella, The Mist first premiered on Spike TV on June 22, 2017. The Viacom-owned channel will rebrand as “Paramount Network,” in early 2018. A few months prior to its first and only season debut, Kevin Kay, president of Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT said the new TV series had “potential,” and that they would renew it for season two, if the first season found “success” on Spike.
Airing on the Spike cable channel, The Mist stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Frances Conroy. After the Copeland family’s daughter survives a brutal attack, an ominous mist overwhelms the town of Bridgeville, Maine. As it spreads, it threatens the very foundations of the town.
The Mist: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of The Mist averaged a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 462,000 viewers. Because The Mist was the cable channel’s first original scripted series, we don’t have ratings data from other Spike TV shows to which we can compare it.
Deadline has confirmed The Mist cancellation with Spike.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of The Mist TV series? Should Spike have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
I love the serie i really hope they are making season 2 after all. I really really EnJoy it and i love to see how it goes further
I watched every episode of The Mist. Stephen King is always great TV and books. I am a big fan of anything he does. Every time a new show comes on that I really like it gets taken off the air. Save this show. Please run Season Two and if ratings don’t increase then take it off the air.
I watched every episode and want more. Stephen King has always been good TV and reading. Don’t cancel this show. Every time a great show comes along it gets kicked off the air.
Another great opportunity messed up. A great story line made boring and slow. Shame really.
I read the book many years ago and loved it. I even loved the movie version. I have fallen in love with the characters and the story lines of Spike’s new version. I think canceling was a huge mistake.
I loved the original. Didn’t mind that the Spike version was different, liked that part fine, but it was just too darn slow. They should have made it just one tight season and given us an ending.
I absolutely love the mist and am anxiously awaiting its return. Please do not cancel this series. I’ve told a lot of people about it and they are just starting to watch it. It is a great and entertaining show. My husband, my daughter and I watch it!
The Mist tv series was excellent! Far better than the movie version of 2007.
Very disappointed that this has been cancelled, as the writing had potential to keep the show going through a second series at the very least.
Living in hope that someone will pick up the rights and carry it on, so that we find out what will happen!
I would love it if you The Mist would continue. Since The Mist has stopped airing I have lost interest in watching any other show on Spike TV because I feel they will do the same. Not happy and neither are my friends who I talked to about the show.
*Pretends to be shocked*
I think audiences wanted to see survival horror, group dynamics, scary creatures, thought provoking revelations… not days of our lives with big bugs in the fog.
“There is something in the mist!” = People wanted monsters in the mist!
I don’t know how this show happened. I don’t know how more than one person read the script and said “yes, these appear to be human beings.” I think I stopped after the parents had an argument over whose fault their daughter’s sexual assault was, while their daughter was sitting between them.
Then you missed a great
Show
If it was canceled I think I dind’t miss anything worthwhile, right?
Believe me you did.sad as **** that they didn’t or prob do season 2,I think you should try it but it is you’re call
I would love to watch season 2 of The Mist. Even though it’s different than the movie, but it went the way it should. The story is developing and also the characters. I hope someone would pick it up and continue with season 2. Need to know more about Arrowhead as well as Adrian’s fate.
I liked the show! but I was not surprised that they would cancel it.
Now, I will forever be imagining what would’ve happened to the characters 🙁
I for one really enjoyed the different spin on the plot compared to the movie but I have not read the book… yet.
Quite a few of the actors got on my nerves, but it played out how I wanted it too in the end which is very rare… seems like all the shows I enjoy get cancelled and absolute bullcrap takes its place. It is a real shame.
