TV show description:
This crime drama has a unique twist in that it doesn’t focus on who committed a crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place. As the mystery unfolds, winding between revealing flashbacks and present time, viewers navigate the twisted and complicated maze of each murder, solving the puzzle alongside the detectives, piecing together more of the mysterious connections that drove the killer to commit murder.
When a murder is committed, Detectives Angie Flynn (Kristin Lehman) and Oscar Vega (Louis Ferreira) are on the case, looking for clues that will lead them to the killer.
Sexy and feisty, Angie is a thirty-something single mom from the wrong side of the tracks who proves that appearances can be deceiving. Oscar is intelligent, thoughtful, methodical and confident. He comes from a wealthy family and turned his back on an expensive Harvard Divinity School education to join the police force (a change of heart from his initial choice of joining the priesthood).
Others on the homicide team are: Doctor Betty Rogers (Lauren Holly), a medical examiner with a quirky sense of humor that belies the grimness of her daily job. Staff Sergeant Boyd Bloom (Roger Cross), the Squad Room Supervisor who was sidelined from the streets a few years earlier by a bullet. Detective Brian Lucas (Brendan Penny), a young eager beaver detective and newlywed who’s eager to learn and is fascinated about the often grisly procedures.
Angie doesn’t suffer fools or authority figures lightly. At home, Angie only wants the best for her teenage son, Manny (Cameron Bright), who is one of the few things in life that she feels she did right. But as far as Manny’s concerned, being the son of a cop is not the easiest gig in the world.

What do you think? Do you like the Motive TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
I love the show, it’s interesting and different than all the other cop shows. I sure hope it doesn’t get cancelled. The actors are great also. RENEW,RENEW RENEW.
loved the show. sorry to see it go here.
Why does this happen……a very good tv show with a very good following gets cancelled!! It’s very irritating….just when I am ‘into’ the characters, it’s gone. ‘Motive’ was smart and had a bit different concept. If you don’t want it, let some other network have it so I can watch it there.
I really loved the show and it bought a change to my tv watching. An adult show with fresh faces.
terrific show don’t cancel renew lead detectives are excellent
This show is a far better program than the mindless fake reality shows. These so called reality fares are so absurd and accomplish what it sets out to. That being the further dumbing down of the masses.
I really looked forward to the show each week. Seems when you find and enjoy a show they cancel it.
ABC did it again. This is about the only thing I watched on ABC. They’ve canceled so many shows over the years that I liked (Dirty, Sexy, Money was one),
I don’t even look to see what is on ABC anymore. And I DON’T watch reality shows.
GREAT SHOW, GREAT CONCEPT, AND AMAZING ACTING, SO WHY DID THEY NOT PICK IT UP FOR SHOWING IN THE U.S.!! Shame on ABC for failing it viewers!!
It seems ABC would rather show those mindless trashy realality bachlorette shows instead of one that has depth. It’s too bad they don’t have programers who know what a good program entails…
There is no series on TV that has this concept and the acting is excellent. It is sad that ABC is always giving up on good shows and not paying more in advertisement to promote the good shows.
I am a Canadian living in the USA, and love the show! I absolutely want it renewed here. I really miss it.
I agree. I was looking forward to Motive returning this summer. It is clever and different.
Everyone seemed to like it. Why cancel?? And the trash they keep on!
I hope another station picks it up.
Why is it that every time a good series comes on, the networks always like to cancel it. This is a good series, and I would like it to continue for a long time!
maybe I’m too late to the party, but I thought this was a great series
I agree. This Canadian based series was renewed in Canada even before the current season was over. Just proves the Canadians have much better taste than we do!
I liked the show. I thought it was clever and different. I also liked the stars I was looking forward to watching Motive instead of reruns and reality shows. This summer.
