Sylvester Stallone is taking on the mafia. Deadline reports the actor will star in a new series based on Mario Puzo’s last novel, Omerta.

Film director Antoine Fuqua is slated to direct.

Published posthumously in 2000, Omerta follows New York mafia boss Don Raymond Aprile (Stallone) and his adopted nephew, Astorre, who is picked as the Don’s successor.  The Weinstein Company is producing.

A network has not yet been announced.
