Episode 01-02: Thursday, 9/29/11
Episode two came down 13% in the demo to a 2.7 rating and 12.51 million. It was fourth in its timeslot. The network was down by 13% year-to-year and this new series is currently ranking in the middle of the pack on CBS. If the ratings keep going down like this, it won’t take much for Person of Interest to be in the bottom tier and be in serious danger.
Season average: 2.9 demo with 12.92 million.
Episode 01-01: Thursday, 9/22/11
This new drama had some positive reviews but didn’t deliver particularly strong ratings. The first episode garnered a 3.1 in the 18-49 demographic and 13.33 million viewers. It was in fourth place for the timeslot. Year-to-year, aging CSI’s last season debut did 9% better in the demo and 10% better in total viewers.
Some commenters on this site indicated that they felt the pacing was very slow and that seems to match up with the quarter hour breakdowns. Person of Interest started with a 3.3 in the demo and finished with a 2.9 rating. While these numbers aren’t bad, they are hardly what CBS was hoping for.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the new Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Probably one of the best dramas on TV. It is as much a personality driven show as it is plot driven. All of the characters have depth and it has been a delight to watch their backgrounds revealed. This is only one of two shows my husband and I watch on CBS and we ardently hope it is renewed for at least another season.
My husband I love this show. Finally, a show where every episode is excellent, the acting is superb. So tired of reality shows and programs for teens. There are people out there over the age of 40 who enjoy watching a good program.
I will be heartbroken if this show doesn’t get a second season. I started watching because I loved Michael Emerson on LOST, but now I’m hooked for the plot. Every episode is like a mini mystery novel, while at the same time, the characters’ back stories make it impossible to miss an episode. Very well done!
I love yhis show. It is a thinking persons show. The characters are complex and compeling. I wait for Thursday night to see this show. There is not much worth watching on TV anymore. Of course I am the kiss of death to any show I like.
I love this show. This show and NCIS are my favorites. It should definitely be brought back for another season.
Love this show! Hope that it continues!!
Love the show. Reese and Finch are both complex characters. I look forward to finding out how their relationship develops and how the whole ensemble melds. I feel engaged by not knowing every single detail. I am interested to see if what I imagine comes out later in the story line.
What a great show. Love the concept!! Skip all the reality for awhile and give me a great drama! Can not wait to peel away the secrets and watch great vigilantes deal out justice and keep me on the edge and always suspended with their stories slowly enfolding.
My wife and I Love the show and look forward to it each week,They are both fine actors and the writers find interesting plots. Its the best crime Drama on TV. We hope we can enjoy it for seasons to come.
My wife and I love this show and look forward to it each week. The stars are gifted I first seen Emerson on Lost and Caviziel in Mel Gibsons Passion of the Christ. I think it should return.
I Love this show…it is very well written, perfectly cast and endlessly engaging. They are both fine actors bringing to life very quirky characters. Through the clever writing they convey how much is going on beneath the surface…I love that they are both deeply complicated characters with a lot going on. Emerson is simply hypnotic to watch, and Caviziel conveys the perfect tone to his deeply tormented character…as I said before, I Love this show and definitely hope they renew it for many seasons to come.
Love this show. It is the BEST new show on TV. It is well-written. Hope it is around for a second season.
The best action show around. Deserves a second season.
Love the show. Our family dvr’s it every week and watch it together. Sure, some of the plots are a little bit of a stretch – and the main character acts with impunity – regardless of what he does. But it’s TV – good entertainment. Well written, well acted. I would keep it around for a second season for sure.
My husband and I love this show and look forward to it every week. I mope CBS gives it a chance and looks at other demographics than just the 18 year olds.
I couldn’t agree more. There are too many vapid teenie dramas on TV as it is. It would be a crime to see a legitimately intelligent show booted off air.
