The ratings have come down quite a bit (again) this year but CBS has decided to keep Person of Interest around for a fifth season.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Airing on Tuesday nights at 10pm, the fourth season of the series has averaged a 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million viewers. Compared to the third season, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 20% in viewership.
It’s in the middle of the pack of CBS’ current crop of scripted series and its fate could have gone either way. A fifth season will put Person of Interest over the 100 episode mark, making for a solid-sized syndication package, which may have played a role in the renewal.
What do you think? Do you like the Person of Interest series? Do you think season five should be the end?
Update: It looks like season five may be the end for Person of Interest on CBS.
iI really enjoyed Person of Interest. I made time for it every Tuesday, no matter what was going on. I was disappointed to lose some woman characters that never got fully developed, but I think the show has value. Don’t let evil win.
POI is one of my all time favorite series. I think sometimes they are making the mistake Lost did, getting too bizarre and losing what first attracted viewers to it. But every time I’m afraid they are going to ruin it, they seem to make what they are doing relevant to the series. I do think most people would prefer the original machine would beat Samaritan and they return to the original formula. The back stories have also been a crucial part of it’s success. So the more of that the better. And lastly, it’s better with Shaw ….rescue her,… Read more »
Totally agree with Marc’s comments………especially regarding to the original premise of the show. Please keep this show going!!! Cast is so talented and can bring more to the story line. LOVE, LOVE this show…
yes we love person of interest we loved csi but I guess they don’t care
I hope Person Of Interest will continue. It’s a great show and am now watching the previous season. The only show I follow every week.
POI is also the only weekly show I follow and it’s good know there are others who do the same.
I have enjoyed watching the first 2 seasons again this summer and have to say this show has become
my all time favorite series.
I don’t watch much television, but Person of Interest is my favorite show. Was disappointed with the loss of two primary female characters, and the season finale left me wondering if it was the end. However, I am looking forward to the new and, reportedly, last season.
POI is a great series with a very good cast, but it needs to get to the basics again instead of all this to-do with the other bad computer guru which just seems to drag on. John needs to get his partners back (Sarah Shahi). agree with Linda and Roxanne that we need o do away with all those useless reality shows. Keep Person of Interest around because the storylines are great about what they do for the City of New York.
For the love of POI, please, I beg, let this show live!!
Perfect chemistry, exceptionally well written, best show out there!
Don’t cancel it…
I look forward to each week it comes on ,Its my favorite series on televison, great chemistry with all charactors …with each great personalities , would like to see Sarah Shahi return in season 5 , was hoping to see a possible interest between her and John, the show needs to continue on , many ,many fans are counting on it , !!!
I love Person of Interest! PLEASE…..PLEASE……PLEASE…..DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!! It is entertaining, intriguing and a potential likelihood of the not so distant future….
I love Person of Interest. It is one of my favorite shows. I don’t know why the best shows are constantly “on the edge” instead of solid as this one should be. Please keep it going forever. Syndication is the deciding factor? What about it’s present popularity. Do the right thing with this great show. After all – aren’t we talking about saying “YES” to Jesus Christ here?
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, KEEP PERSON OF INTEREST ON THE AIR. THANK YOU!
As a big fan of POI and a fan of several CBS Televidion shows this is one of my favorites for the last 5 years. I have followed the show through ups and downs… The passing of Tarji P. Henson after season 3, but this show deserves better. With its great writing , good plots, great cast chemistry and the thrill from week to week keeps me intrigued. After canceling various other shows I Loved, Please keep this one around CBS!!!!!
Hi there, I absolutely LOVE POI… to hear that it’s ratings have been dropping, is very disappointing. I haven’t loved a show so much in all my life! The cast (each and every one of them) is amazing! Every episode is masterfully written. Its sad that incredible shows such as POI, The Following (I also hear is canceled) and alike don’t longer. I can’t stand the reality shows they have out there! Keeping up with the Kardashians, Survivor, Big Brother? Seriously? I’ve tweeted, I’ve facebooked… all that’s left to do is pray. And I seriously doubt even He is listening.… Read more »
Carrie,
There are a lot of devoted POI fans
that appreciate the stellar cast and crew
if this show. Let’s hope the network realizes
this soon.
I like person of interest but like you bring back Sarah shahi she good please keep it on
I have absolutly loved this program from the start. Please keep it around and get rid of some of the junk you have on. Reality shows suck. Way too many of those. Person of interest has me rooting for the good guys and hope they can make a difference. Wonderful show. I purchase every years dvd. Can’t get enough of it.
I agree wholeheartedly with you Linda.
There are many thoughtless “junk” shows that should be cancelled before POI.
I’m enjoying the previous seasons this summer as I too have purchased the DVDs.
The cast is so talented and in NYC there is no
chance of running out of exciting story lines.
