This season, CBS has moved Person of Interest to Tuesday nights. Will the ratings fall off as a result or will they grow because of a stronger lead-in? Let’s wait and see.
On Person of Interest, former CIA officer John Reese (Jim Caviezel) and billionaire Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) continue to work together to prevent violent crimes in the Big Apple. Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker round out the cast.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/13 update: This show has been renewed for the 2014-15 season by CBS.
Final season averages: 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 14.41 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fourth season?
Person of interest was one of my favorite shows. It was a must watch for the week. I still like the show, I think. It has become very hard to follow . I truthfully have a hard time trying to figure out what roles they are playing now. The girl from the mental hospital just shows up and now the computer and her talk to each other, Harold seems to have lost all contact with it . I really do not like those changes. It seems to have lost its cast and its romance. I think the people liked the… Read more »
Excellent series, though a little too violent. I watch it for the storyline. It is worthy & deserving to keep on the air. There is a growing following. Please don’t cancel!
That “growing following” better include a large number of 18-49 year olds, because the numbers on the above charts indicate just the opposite.
Personal shout out to darkhero35 on tumblr. Thanks. CBS has had at least three similar situations in the past, most notably the original Beauty and the Beast, and most recently Criminal Minds, where the two female characters were let go to cut production costs. In the case of Criminal Minds, the fans fought back, and Paget Brewster and A. J. Cook were both rehired for the next season, albeit with a ridiculous backstory for their disappearance from the show. Should CBS have wanted to bring back Ms. Henson they could have with the old soap opera story line — she… Read more »
Person of Interest has become more of a fantasy than a sci-fi drama, and its cartoonish aspects detract rather than enhance. A one word description, ridiculous. Something viable turned into a big, nasty mess and CBS and Warner Brothers have to be aware that their once promising investment is now a mishandled PR nightmare and an embarrassment. Sure. Keep this show in your stable, if you have nothing better to offer, but this horse is on its last legs and should be put out to the creatively challenged and socially bereft pasture.
Keep it. It may show some different things and won’t appeal to everyone but our government most likely has a system just like it…..remember “big brother” is watching. Good show …keep it on.
The message of this “good show” may be lost in its presentation that indicates, unfortunately, it is only meant for “certain people”. Casting is very important and Person of Interest features actors who do not represent the diverse world in which we live. This show is filmed in a make believe New York City, where only Caucasian actors act and only Caucasian people live. Many viewers refuse to accept this purposeful exclusion and deception. CBS and the writers and producers of this show should be censored and shamed and the show should be boycotted. This is not a white world.
I really like this show. Some of the shows that do make it I can’t understand why.
Person of Interest needs some of the fans who gave up on the show to start watching again. It also needs some new fans. Unfortunately, the quality of the writing has declined so greatly that neither will likely occur. Poor decisions on the part of the writers and producers have resulted in an untenable situation. The only direction for ratings is downward as fewer viewers elect to engage in or care about the drama and its hapless charecterizations. It is a shame, really, and not even the great Jonah Nolan can get everything right or make people buy into his… Read more »
It does not help that three great black characters are all dead now. What the hell. Guess they may bring in another ‘Token” black next season. Loved all three of them. Love the show still. How about bringing in a great crippled character. I have spent 33 years in a wheelchair.
The program takes place in New York, where you can find many examples of people from everywhere, so perhaps the next character should be a Black Asian half Latino woman with an eye patch (which should take care of all political and racial possibilities), who is badass, can fight, shoot, is not from California, and is smarter than Root. The problem with Person of Interest is that the writers and producers only conceived of an arc that only went three seasons, and then ran out of ideas. This show will probably run two more seasons until the network can make… Read more »
I just read an article that suggested Person of Interest episodes to be watched in order to “catch up” with the drama. Therein lies one of the fundamental problems with how this once promising offering has devalued itself. How many people are going to take the time to figure out a way to watch numerous episodes of a television show, from the beginning, just to have a glimmer of an idea what might be transpiring in the fourth season? Why should television viewers invest their time in such a nebulous investment? This entire debacle is an example of a plan… Read more »
Questions about Person of Interest: 1. Why is the show not being widely promoted, and why is there not a more noticeable fan following for cast members? 2. How would someone viewing the drama for the first time find it engaging without any prior knowlwdge or understanding about the backstory or character histories? 3. Why is it acceptable for a show to have extremely high ratings and viewership, make extreme changes to its storylines, premise and cast, and experience a catastrophic decline in ratings and audience participation? 4. If high ratings and viewership are an indication that a television following… Read more »
Love this show! Keep it!!!
I really like this show. I was shocked when Carter was killed off but the show still has a lot of potential. Keep it!!!
Person of Interest is terminal and requires life support. Unfortunately, there will not be enough lives who care sufficiently about its terrible writing and disastrous casting decisions to watch it and impact ratings, positively. Viewers are selective, these days, and many have no qualms about expressing their displeasure. It is the quiet ones, however, who may have the most impact as they vote with their remote controls and forego the pain of witnessing creative mayhem presented as legitimate television drama. This former fan looks forward to never watching Person of Interest again with exhilarating anticipation, and will cheer its cancellation.
I sure hope that they do not cancel this program. It is one of the best shows that has been put on of late. They are always taking off the good shows and leaving the garbage on. No way!
Today, I watched the last two episodes of Person of Interest just to see how the season ended. I deleted 2-3 episodes I had saved. Once Root and Sam was added to the show and all that talk about “her”, I lost interest. The original format is what caught my attention and what would have kept me watching.
