Are the “Fab Five” in need of a bit of a makeover themselves? After only 84 episodes and four seasons, it looks like the ride may be over for the fad Bravo Queer Eye for the Straight Guy makeover show.
In a recent interview, Queer Eye’s self-proclaimed “Cultural Vulture” Jai Rodriguez revealed that he and his makeover cohorts (Carson Kressley, Kyan Douglas, Ted Allen and Thom Filicia) haven’t been asked back for the 2007 season.
Though gay-friendly Bravo hasn’t made any official announcements, Jai wondered if this is how they’re going out with a bang. He said that everyone on the team has new projects that they’re working on and that they just completed a tour in the Philippines where they are very popular. Through all of the overexposure and onscreen bickering, the five have remained friends.
Jai, who was recently seen on the big-screen in a cameo role in the film version of The Producers musical, has a TV show and a movie in the works for the fall.
Update: Bravo has announced that the rumor of Queer Eye’s cancellation is premature. Queer Eye recently wrapped their fourth season and these episodes are in the process of being aired now. The decision about whether new episodes will be produced won’t be announced until the end of the year. I’ll keep you posted.
