Court will soon be adjourned for the Mark-Paul Gosselaar drama, Raising the Bar. TNT has decided to cancel the series after two seasons but, there may still be more to come.
From executive producer Steven Bochco, Raising the Bar revolves around a group of law school classmates who work on opposite sides of the courtroom. The drama’s cast includes Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben, Currie Graham, Melissa Sagemiller, J. August Richards, Jonathan Scarfe, Teddy Sears, Jane Kaczmarek, Stacy Hall, Natalia Cigliuti, Paul Joyner, Wayne Lopez, Jon Polito, and Angel Oguendo.
Back on September 1, 2008, the series premiere attracted 7.7 million viewers. That set a record for TNT as the biggest audience for a new series launch on regular cable. Unfortunately, much of the audience didn’t return for later episodes which averaged 5.5 million. Despite an early decline, TNT renewed the series for a second season.

On June 8th, season two of Raising the Bar attracted just 3.6 million and shed half of the audience of its lead-in, The Closer.
As a result of the low ratings, the cable channel has cancelled the legal drama. Via a statement, a TNT representative said, “Everyone at TNT had a great experience working on Raising the Bar with Steven Bochco and the rest of the show’s terrific cast and crew. We’re proud of the series and appreciate the efforts of all of the creative people who were involved. Unfortunately, ratings for Raising the Bar’s second season did not reach the levels required for TNT to renew the series.”
TNT had opted to split the second season into two parts. The first dozen episodes finished airing on August 24th. That leaves three episodes on the shelf. It was expected that they would air in early 2010 but they haven’t been given airdates yet.

This sucks!!! This was an awesome show, has reality tv taken over all our networks???? You should at least show the rest of the season, or bring it back. TNT doesn’t have that many great shows, this was one of the best they have had!
I absolutely adored this series. I having been anxiously waiting for its return, so I finally decided to see what the trouble was. I am so sad that it has been canceled. It had the ability to move me in many ways with its storylines. I wish TNT would reconsider. Maybe it was the time slot?
IT’S AN OUTRAGE THIS SHOW WAS CANCELLED. I LOOKED FORWARD TO VIEWING IT EVERY WEEK.
I looked forward to watching the show. It was a high favorite. I’m saddened and very disappointed it’s been cancelled. Please bring it back.

This was the best show on TV. I am extremely disapointed, TNT always take the best shows off the air. Please allow us to see the remaining episodes.
Cancelled “Raising the Bar”!
Why? Any program with some inteligence that entertain the audience seem to be the first to go. How will TV programming ever improve if the programs do not provide a spectrum of selections for the viewing audience? I realize ratings are important. But, what do you compete them against. Put it in a new time slot and give it another chance. Stop trying to please only the 2o and 30 something audiences, the viewing polulation is a lot bigger than that!

This was an excellent show. Storylines, moral messages, acting, direction, etc. I didn’t see it on TNT, so I’m comparing it to the newest legal shows airing this season 2010 & they are sub par or garbage… The Whole Truth, The Defenders, Outlaw, not to mention the non legal ones like Undercovers, Hawaii Five-0, Detroit 1-8-7, Chase, etc. So far there’s only 2-3 shows out of all the new ones I like & maybe 1-2 others I haven’t decided on yet. I loved this program and all the characters! It was riviting and full of surprises! Please show the rest of the series an dif possible bring it back.I like it’s replacement, but not nearly as much!

TNT really goofed on this one.
I think it sucks that raising the bar was canceled. it was an excellent show and I taped everyone of the episodes. this doesnt make any sense at all. Good story lines, excellent acting, good looking people, great adversarial content, the judges were too cool and even the gay guy was well liked. this is a stupid move to cancel this show.
