A crime drama, Reef Break stars Poppy Montgomery, Ray Stevenson, Desmond Chiam, Melissa Bonne, and Tamala Shelton. The series centers on Cat Chambers (Montgomery), a former thief. These days, she works as the fixer for the governor of a beautiful Pacific Island paradise — “The Reef.” Thanks to her checkered past, Cat has a deep understanding of criminals and the crimes they commit. As a real risk-taker, she runs toward adventure, not from it.
The first season of Reef Break averaged a mere 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 1.96 million viewers. It was ABC’s lowest-rated summer series, ranking 14th of 14 series. Of the 57 summer network TV shows, Reef Break ranked 39th out of 57 shows. It only beat out a bunch of CW shows, What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage on FOX and season one of The Good Fight on CBS (which had already been released on CBS All Access).
While ABC has cancelled Reef Break and Grand Hotel, the network has already renewed numerous reality and game shows. Those expected back for Summer 2020 include The $100,000 Pyramid, Bachelor in Paradise, The Bachelorette, Card Sharks, Celebrity Family Feud, Holey Moley, Match Game, Press Your Luck, and To Tell the Truth. The fate of low-rated Family Food Fight is still up in the air. Season seven of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will be that show’s end and the network is expected to run it next summer as well.

Wow!! I just don’t understand why all the reality shows are getting renewed but a great show like Reef Break gets canceled. At least let the shows last two seasons so they are given a chance.
My husband and I loved this show. It was one of the best shows for the summer. ABC please do not cancel bring it back for a second season.
I will miss both shows this summer. Highly disappointed. They will not likely get my attention this summer.
I love Poppy Montgomery and her character. The show’s action, fun storyline, and scenery were a plus.

That will teach a shows producer and director to end a show on a cliff hanger. Poppy Montgomery should have learned her lesson when they ended Umforgettable on a cliff hanger and the it wasn’t renewed. Not every season has to end on a cliff hanger. Good bye poppy.
We both liked this show, wish it had been renewed instead of many other shows.
I really,really liked Reef Break. It was good escapist fun. I don’t watch reality Tv as a rule.I was hoping it would escape the axe.
I really really liked it too. I am sad to see it go. I don’t watch any of those shows that ABC renewed. I do not care much for reality or game shows.

I’m so disappointed that you didn’t bring Reef Break for season two!!! You need to change your mind and bring it back for season 2, PLEASE!!!!! I LOVED THIS SHOW! The other reality shows I cannot stand and don’t watch a single one of them. Reef Break has character and kept me on my toes. It had alot of action and I loved the actors in this show. Ikr Linda! I’m very disappointed that they cancelled it. I think Netflix (CBS All Access, etc.) or a steaming service should pick it up for a second season
This is really sad…. I love this show very much. It the best show they had all summer.
I enjoyed “Reef Braak”; sorry to see it cancelled. WHY are the shows based on a specific age group rather than all viewers no matter their age. The younger viewers are probably watching shows different from those watched by viewers over 50 years of age.
I really am not a fan of ABC because it doesn’t give baby shows a chance to find an audience. Enjoyed this shows star’s, location and thought it had many different directions it could go. They are quick to cancel anything that isn’t cheap to air. Reality, game shows are the cheapest shows to make so why give anything else a chance. So fun to watch and the soap style shows are cancelled. After Whiskey Cavalier I swore off ABC. I love Poppy Montgomery so started to watch the show. So sorry I did. Stupid ABC. That was a great show!
I loved the show – especially Poppy Montgomery as she plays strong women characters. I never watch all the other game shows or reality shows – boring. Please reconsider and keep this show going.
I wish they could add it to another platform/network.
No I didn’t like Reef Break. They should have kept The Kids are Alright on and not cancelled it!
