Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Rise averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.44 million viewers. Find out how Rise stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
It was the best shows i have ever seen in my life. It sucks that they won’t renew it. They can if they wanted to they are just choosing not too. I really hope they see how many people loved the show and they will bring it back like they did with Timeless.
Please renew this show. Such a great show – – a great uplifting connection between a few teachers/mentors and students – everyone who has serious real-life issues to deal with. It’s a shame that NBC isn’t willing to give this new show a Season 2. Fight for it!
I cannot believe that season 2 has been cancelled. This is one of the best shows that is on NBC. It’s always so bad when a Show is canceled leaving you in the suspense as to what could be happening in season 2 + 3 + 4. Please NBC… renew RISE!
Don’t cancel the only show about high school that is worth wanting since Friday night lights!!
I loved this show. My wife and I watched it every week. I would never have cancelled the series.
Oh my goodness! I loved the first season, nearly teared up every episode! I would love to see a season 2, and very upset to hear its cancellation. RECONSIDER PLEASE!!
Very sad they cancelled Rise. Really liked this show and liked how it dealt with real situations that high schooler deal woth.
I love the wonderful show Rise and am very disappointed to hear that it has been canceled. Please bring it back for a second season!
Enjoyed the real life situations in the show. Would like to see Season 2. Sorry it was cancelled. Reconsider please!
This was such a quality show. I can’t believe is been cancelled. It was so refreshing to watch something other than a reality or cop show. I thought NBC was on the right track but it seems I was wrong. I really regret your decision
Great show and I’m very disappointed it has been cancelled . Not many shows I enjoy besides This is Us that I enjoy . I looked forward to it every week . It’s a shame that all viewers did not give this amazing show a chance . Guess they prefer violence more than real life ,family humble program . NBC please fight for second season .
I’m so sad to hear Rise has been canceled. A great drama for teens, parents and others to enjoy together.
Finally a show that’s new and refreshing. Other prime time shows are good but plots and characters are becoming too familiar. Rise has a cast that’s diverse and unique and extremely talented. It would be great to develop all the exciting areas of Rise and add it to your roster.
Please bring Rise back! This is one of my favorite shows. This addresses tons of things kids my age struggle with daily.
Please bring it back!!!
I hate that this show is cancelled. This is a quality show with a great group of actors. Wish it had made a season two. Radnor and Perez were outstanding!
