Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Very sad it’s canceled! It took a bit for it to grow on me, but it did. I think they should give it another season to see how it flies .
Best show I have ever watched! I really felt connected to whole series. And for once I actually understood what the lesson in the play was. I am still very upset they cancelled Rise. It if it were up to me I would want Rise to do many more seasons. I hope and pray that you reconsider cancelling Rise because it has great morals and lesson behind it!
Really enjoyed Season 1. Please reconsider renewing. Would Ike to see a Season 2.
Great show!!! Cannot believe it is cancelled but hey lets bring more hospital and cop shows on…
Looked forward to this show. Would love to see what happens to the characters
This is a great show. Well written and well acted. It is a complete shame to cancel. We need more shows like this, not less. Please reconsider
This show should not be canceled! It was gritty, true to life, and filled with talented young actors. Such a shame that good shows get canceled and drivel remains.
Totally depressed!! We LOVE this show, it’s one of the few quality shows on TV that is relevant, well written and has an excellent cast. America needs this show, please reconsider, or move it to a cable network; we are losing faith in primetime network television!
Let me comment. Great show! Please reconsider.
Loved RISE , one of only 2 network new dramas I liked this year. So bummed NBC cancelled it. Praying FOX or another cable ch picks it up. Please please please. Loved the character development and actors did a great job. Jason Katim’s fingerprints all over it. Like Friday Night Lights… keep it going
tv land!
Really enjoyed this show for it’s real life and truly remarkable content. I think it would be a great shame if there aren’t more seasons. We need more real life shows that get you right in the heart, and real emotions that make you feel the lives of real Americans.
I’m so disappointed and sad that this show has been cancelled. This show is amazing and I looked forward to watching it every week. Please reconsider. I would love for you to give this show a chance and have a second season.
My husband and I have been waiting for a show like this since Friday Night Lights. Please reconsider this decision, we would love to see a Season 2. It’s dofficult not to form an attachment to these characters, and we are so sad to hear this decision!
I can’t believe NBC has cancelled Rise! It is s great show that I looked forward to week after week. I am so sick of violent shows and medical dramas. Rise was a breath of fresh air and I truly hope NBC reconsiders and gives this show a chance!!
We loved this show and are sorry that NBC has decided to cencel it. The acting and writing were excellent. We were looking forward to season 2.
