Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Rise averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.44 million viewers. Find out how Rise stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Thanks fo cancelling another great show!
This was a pretty amazing show, my family and watched it together. The actors were all so good. Kinda shocked it’s cancelled, hopefully another network will pick it up.
This was a GREAT show. I looked forward to it each week. Maybe another network will pick it up.
Too bad the show is being cancelled after only one season. Lots of talent addressing real issues today’s kids face. Please reconsider. I am a senior citizen and thoroughly enjoyed the show.
I’m devastated that NBC would cancel RISE. This show was one of the BEST shows NBC offered. You should rethink cancelling RISE. PLEASE reconsider. If you don’t hopefully, another network will take it . The ratings were very good in comparison to their shows you insist on airing.
I’m very sad it is not being renewed. I honestly loved this show, it was one of my favorites, next on How I Met Your Mother. You really should think bout renewing it because it had 4.14 millions views each week and it was already a well like show. I hope you, NBC, could take this and everyone’s comment into consideration because it is such an amazing show.
This is a great show… don’t cancel’
Why can’t shows like Rise get a 2nd chance… where are the inspirational shows for teens? This was a powerful drama about real-world issues – do we need more cop/firefighters/political dramas?!?
Why, no blood, git, and killing. People like to see the less violent side of life. A little feel good is what we have too little of. This show didn’t teach people how to kill. All I can say is ********
I JUST found out that this show was cancelled!! I am SO upset! I looked forward to this show every week. I can not believe that it won’t be renewed. I feel like I was left hanging with these characters lives. I loved the storylines and how it directly related to real world issues. It was a show that adults and teenagers could watch together and have some powerful conversations!
My son is a athlete and in drama so we loved this show. Yes mature content but teens today deal with these things daily. Life isn’t leave it to Beaver .
I’m totally bummed it won’t be renewed. I binge watched it on Amazon and found it so real to today’s issues!
NOOO don’t cancel season Two!!! There are no other shows that compare right now. We need something different and something more real! KEEP SEASON TWO
I love this show. I anxiously awaited it each week as much as “Greys Anatomy” and “This is Us.” I’m very disappointed in its cancellation.
Please renew this show! After Glee finished out, I was so excited to find a show that is comparable. I think this show exceeds anything Glee could have done. I LOVE the idea of doing musicals and working through the dramas of school. I love that it addresses the dark themes that no one wants to talk about. There are SO many shows that dont do well in the first season but pick up in later seasons. PLEASE give this one another shot!!
