Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Rise averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.44 million viewers. Find out how Rise stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I am brokenhearted. I loved this show. Wish they would change their mind and give it another chance. I believe it is a mistake to cancel this series.
I believe this may be another “Firefly” ~ NBC will be forever known as the network that let this one ‘get away’. It’s an eaxample of solid, well-written shows which are canceled after the first season because they’re deeper than the ‘reality’ audience can handle. Shame. The cast and audience font deserve a cancellation ~ they deserve a second season.
I’m so bummed!!! I loved the first season. The acting, music, and real-life topics made it a great series. If I had a choice, I would definitely watch it again!
Love this show and cant believe it’s canceled. It’s real life and deals with what teenagers and families are facing today. Watch with my daughter.

I would definitely say RENEW!!!
I am very disappointed that Rise is canceled.
I watched every episode. There are enough geeks, like me, that were in their own high school musicals that would continue to watch.
Please rethink this decision.
I LOVE this show…great characters..honest…each episode was great..I am sooo disappointed it is cancelled. Maybe someone else will pick it up..
I’m so disapointed by this news!!! I looked forward to this show every week, and I thought the characters and story line was so great and relevant.
I am extremely disappointed that NBC would cancel this show. This is one of the few things that my daughter and I do together. Really thought they handled the topics well. Kept us going week to week wanting to know how each character got through things that happen in real life
LOVED this show! So disappointed that it’s been canceled
Really great show. I am very disappointed that it was canceled. I can’t understand why these networks are canceling all the good shows.
Can’t believe it has been cancelled!! We really liked this show. Reminded us of the show, Glee. ☹️
Loved the show and very disappointed to hear it was cancelled. Never missed it weekly.
So sad to see Rise go! My daughter and I looked forward to it every week. The characters were so well developed and so well liked. Truly disappointed!
