Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS CURRENT UPLIFTING SAD YET UPLIFTING SHOW THAT REFLECTS ALL OF America whether people ADMIT IT or NOT. It gave me the opportunity to reflect on my 30 year old who participated in Drama and gave it his all in HS. THIS IS NOT A GLEE MOMENT … it’s a reality check for America and maybe it can change so many lives!PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL..WHAT A TRUE TO LIFE EXPERIENCE!
NBC lets me down again canceling another great show!
Should be renewed! One of the only the whole family can enjoy.
You do not even give shows a chance, seriously. One season cannot make or break a show…Ridiculous!!!
I love this show! Please consider a second season, even if you move it to another one of your NBC network channels. It’s a fabulous show with a wonderful story. The characters are rich and REAL! Please consider keeping it around for a while!
I would have liked to at least see a second season, and see where the show would have gone!! I liked what I saw this season!
Omygosh I loved it!! I just hate when a really good show gets cancelled. Makes me not even want to watch nbc!
I can’t believe this show was cancelled!!! It is so good! I believe a second season would bring in even more viewers! It is one of the best new shows to premiere in the past few years. I really hope whoever is in charge decides to continue this series. I’m heartbroken right now.
Really enjoyed Rise, the subjects they covered and the acting. Really disappointed that NBC has decided to cancel.
This is a wonderful show! It’s a mix of two of my all time favorites—Friday Night Lights and Glee. It needed better marketing tho—I’m not sure many high schoolers were aware of it, but the ones who were LOVED it! Great acting and writing too! Hope it has a chance on another network!
Loved this showed!! Reality for High Schoolers. Very Bummed it was not renewed!
This was a great feel good show with real life problems and solutions. It should return!
I liked the story line of this TV series and watched all of the episodes. What I wasn’t thrilled with was the language. I hope the network will re-consider canceling this program and bring it back for season two.
I can count the number of network series I watch regularly on three fingers. Rise was one of them. Now, I am down to two. I am saddened by its cancellation.
Very bummed that Rise was cancelled. I watched every episode. My daughter and I looked forward to it each week
