Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Pleaseeeeeeeee bring it back
i LOVED rise…watched opening night 5 times now…..se bring RISE back!!!!!
Please don’t cancel this show. It is quality televison for families. Loved the characters and the messages!! Please reconsider another season of RISE.
We loved this show. Watching it weekly with my teenage daughter was a treat as she “unplugged”and enjoyed it. If NBC doesn’t bring it back, I hope another, more daring network will.
We loved this show and looked forward to watching it every week. Please reconsider and do NOT cancel Rise! This show had depth and relatable characters. It had a great storyline which touched on many aspects of life. We felt it was one of the best shows on network TV…definitely the best new show this year! We are extremely disappointed with this decision. Again, please reconsider!
Love watching this show with my teenager. Rise touches on all the issues going on these days with the REAL family. We have made it a point to watch every week.We were looking forward to season 2, so disappointed to hear it may be cancelled.
Please keep Rise, NBC! I will tell everyone to watch! I need to know what happens with all of these characters I feel I’ve grown to know! Don’t let me down by leaving me to feel I’ve wasted time watching only to learn that I don’t get to watch the story unfold and learn what happens with these wonderful characters! How very disappointing!!!
Loved this show. Please reconsider canceling it. Such a great story and many stories to be followed up on.
I love this show and everything it is about. Empowering youth to have a voice. Encouraging them to stand up for what they believe and address things in this world even some adults are to sensitive over. They even address the tender issue of how fucked the foster system is. Please consider making a season two.
Loved this show. My fiancé and I both work at an urban middle school and loved watching this. Touches on so many relevant topics and is actually real about it. Also demonstrates how important teachers can be in the lives of their students which is so needed (when we often do a lot of the parenting that doesn’t occur at home). Please bring it back! So much better than another medical or crime drama.
Please reconsider. My 17 year old and I loved watching the show together. It addressed so many issues that kids see in school these days. Loved the show.
Please bring back another season of Rise. This has been such a welcome change that addresses so so many issues. I am a senior senior citizen and have loved watching every episode. Please reconsider.
Please bring the show back. I need to know what happens to everyone. I’m disappointed, NBC.
PLEASE PLEASE RECONSIDER the cancellation of this unique gift to the viewing public! RISE is brilliant. There has been no other vehicle, in my lifetime, like it…..honest, relevant, polished, real, andso valuable.
Please take a STEPBACK, NBC. The myriad of PLUSES so far outweigh any negatives. Give this program an honest chance to find a REAL HOME in the lives of families, of young people, of educators, and communities.
PLEASE BRING THIS PROGRAM BACK. It is full of HOPE and ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.
Thank You!
I can’t believe they cancelled this show! I really looked forward to it every week and now we will never know how the story played out! Please reconsider. There’s so much junk on tv and this was a real exception. It was nice to see something other than a police or hospital drama.
