Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
My favorite show of the season. Amazing acting, directing, singing. Was looking forward to another season. Very disappointed.
I was enthralled with the character development and the talented actors. I never missed an episode. I loved the theme of the story and the interaction between the high school students and their parents was very believable. I was really hoping for a second season.
This is such a great show I look forward to watching every week the actors are amazing please don’t cancel please BRING IT BACK
LOVED this show and just cried and cried at the season finale! Please don’t cancel it 🙁
I absolutely love this show I cant believe that you would cancel this I’m totally hooked just amazing please please don’t cancel
Please don’t cancel this show!!! Your breaking the hearts of 2 amazing boys and their mom who bond weekly Tuesday nights at 9…
Looked forward to Tuesday nights to watch Rise. Wonderful, well done show. Was looking forward to season 2. Shame on NBC…….Is there another network out there that knows quality programming when they see it?
Love Love Loved this show. I have moved away from regular station channels and this caught my attention and kept it. It showed the true chalkenges schools and students face. So sad it isnt being renewed. Back to cable channels for me. Such a shame.
Loved it! Bring it back! PLEASE don’t cancel!
This is truly one of my most favorite shows ever!! That’s just crazy to me!!!
My wife and I are in our seventies. We LOVED the show, we LOVED the cast, we CRIED during the last show.
We want a SECOND season. We want to know what happens to the characters. You have a show that isn’t another Police show, another fire department show, another Hospital show. It’s original, it’s refreshing. I hope NBC reconsiders ending this show.
I balled my eyes out knowing that Rise will not be back for a second season. I looked forward to it every Tuesday. Rise had a great storyline. I guess you have to have a reality show to have a season 2. NBC please reconsider!!@
PLEASE BRING RISE BACK!!! IT ADDRESSES TONS OF SOCIAL CONCERNS & THE ACTING WAS AMAZING! WE WATCHED EVERY EPISODE, BUT APPARENTLY NOT IN THE TIME FRAME THAT COUNTS, DUE TO OUR WORK SCHEDULES!
I am so disappointed Rise won’t have a second season. I loved the characters and the actors who played them in this show. The soundtrack to the series as well as the songs in the musical, Spring Awaking, were perfectly performed.
Disappointing to learn of cancellation of quality drama with excellent performances. I believed this show had the makings of a lasting viewing opportunities for seasons to come. Subject was a welcome break from medical and crime shows. Tooo bad. Maybe another station will pick it up.
