The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

I went online to find the start date for season 2 of Rubicon and was absolutely shocked to find that it had not been renewed! What a mistake! It was a brilliant, classy, sophisticated, thought-provoking series with an outstanding ensemble of actors.
Bring it back, put some serious effort into marketing this outstanding show and you will have a guaranteed hit on your hands. Wow, someone missed a big opportunity here.
AMC please bring this show back. It has the makings of a long-running series if only it has the chance to succeed. I thoroughly enjoyed each episode and would be very grateful to have another season to enjoy, followed by more of the same.
please bring it back….it is most intriguing!
This is an engrossing series that once you start to watch it and get into the intrigue you are hooked. My wife and I watched it and Tivo’d it to go over the intricacies of the storyline. We were looking forward to season two and the continuation of the story. There is so much left hanging and leaving one on the edge of your seat. It was a shock to hear that AMC would not at least finish the story to some sort of conclusion.
you dumb *****, if i ever see a mindless glee show on amc, i will never turn into amc agian, bigggg mistake on passing on the second season of rubicon. pretty pissed off, great show, so well written, just upsetting, amc im starting to hate your network, lagging on your best shows, pretty sad. AMC you have only a few good shows, not even a handful, you play the worst movies over and over and over again, your channel is like waiting for death, but it cant come soon enough, you toss one of your best shows, because of your… Read more »
It is a shame that AMC dropped this show. I’m quite disappointed. I don’t watch Mad Men, I never wanted to watch the show, but the moment I saw Rubicon trailers I knew I had to see what it was all about. I love political conspiracy thrillers, and Rubicon was brilliant! Complex, suspensful, a quiet conspiracy full of intreague, paranoia and manipulation. It was intelligent and had wonderful actors. Arliss Howard shined! He played it perfectly. You can’t just leave the fans high and dry. WTF?!! This isn’t some cheap comedy that you can just cancel and people will forget.… Read more »
I have been sitting on pins & needles waiting for the return of Rubicon. There is nothing like it . This program is a real conversation piece full of intrigue, controversy & suspense. 5 thumbs up to the writers & producers. Great work.
Yet another example of how television for thinking folk is dying. Perhaps another reason to change from network TV to small companies doing webisodes.
It is one of the few shows my wife and I look forward to. Definitely bring it back!
Yes, definitely bring it back! One of the best, most thought-provoking shows on TV.
Absolutely, it’s refreshing to have a show that’s character and plot driven, which appeals to an intelligent audiance.
I agree with all of the above. One of my favorites….makes you use your thought processes.
Yes, please bring it back. It’s the best show on television, and our whole family watched and discussed it at length. Very thought-provoking and enjoyable TV entertainment.
Finally a series that had substance, content, made you think, use your brain and could be so realistic … and boom … they cancel it cause no one’s watching. That goes to show how brainless the majority of our viewers are. If there is no sex story, no endless blood shed or stupid comments between bff “oh my god!” then no one watches.
BRING RUBICON BACK PLEASE.
ABSOLUTELY….PLEASE BRING RUBICON BACK….IT’S AN INTELLIGENT SHOW….ONE OF THE FEW…..I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON TWO AND HAVE TOLD SEVERAL PEOPLE TO BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THIS SHOW. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE……THERE IS SO LITTLE TO WATCH ON TV…..THIS AND PBS.
Absolutely – PLEASE bring it back – stimulates the mind more than most TV programs.
