The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

Excellent show. Please Keep
I have gotten others to watch -it is so much better than the
reality shows that have dominated the networks. We
watch it faithfully every single Sunday night.
The writing and cast are all great.
The series started off slowly which is why the ratings may be low at this point, how ever the plot and characters developed progressively with each succeeding episode. It would be a shame to cancel this series after one season. The show is a thinking person’s version of 24. Perhaps there is too much concentration required for the average viewer.
If the series is not renewed I will not watch another series until it begins season 2 (using on demand)—-
Rubicon is really good, smart television. I fear it getting the axe from lack of viewership, but hope AMC gives it a go for season 2 and is really smart w/ re-air in the off-season + a timely DVD release.
probably rubicon it’s the best new series of the year..
this series is fantastic.
New, intelligent and charming.
in Italy has many fans
A brilliant show, please give it a second season.
This is the best show on TV.
Another season is a must.
Please renew Rubicon. It’s the only good show that I have seen on TV in a great while.
Just splendid and riveting in every way. Clever writing and script and good actors.
Would be a shame to lose this one; one of the only programs on television now that doesn’t leave one feeling dumber for having seen it. I could not agree with Alan more regarding the long arc.
Love love Rubicon, hope it comes back for a second season.
Absolutely should be renewed. TV series with long arcs are today’s version of the great novels of the past and what TV is best suited. Quite frankly, today’s better cable series far surpass today’s films. This series writers are to be congratulated for creating interesting and complex characters.
I thought it was dreadful – because of poor writing – from start to finish. Only greenlit because of the Mad Men/Breaking Bad winning streak.
looking forward to a second season.
Rubicon is a great show. My wife and I have been watching every episode. You need to bring it back and take care of some of these odd characters. It would be a real shame if theyh were all left hanging. Bring it back!
