Before the show even began airing, Second Chance went through two name changes (previously The Frankenstein Code and Lookinglass) and had its episode order reduced. Will viewers even give it a first chance and watch? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Second Chance, a sheriff named Jimmy Pritchard left his office in disgrace. As a younger man, Jimmy often ignored his family in favor of work and carousing. Unhappy and unwell at 75 years old, he’s killed but gets a second chance when his body is regenerated by some experimental technology. Can Jimmy get things right the second time around? The cast includes Rob Kazinsky, Tim DeKay, Dilshad Vadsaria, Adhir Kalyan, Ciara Bravo, and Vanessa Lengies.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/23 update: Cancelled already? FOX is moving this low-rated series to Friday night.
3/26 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Second Chance TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I swear these stupid networks NEVER give a show a chance to catch on. It’s flippin ridiculous.
I have noticed FOX is loading up their schedule with brain dead reality shows for the younger folks to watch. I think we are beginning to see a major shift from smart scripted shows, much more expensive than mindless reality shows. They want millenials watching. Us Baby Boomers who have the disposable income to spend on products are being discriminated against during these ratings wars. If the pendulum swings too far into BB territory, wave bye bye to whatever show, no matter how good it is. Class action suit, anybody?
Unfortunately, I believe you are %100 correct. I have been amazed at the dumb shows that are renewed. Brain dead seems to be an understatement.
Oh I so agree with you! I truly hate ALL the reality shows out there!!! I’m so tired of the back stabbings and endless hook ups. I really don’t care about keeping up with the “K’s” or any other show like that one!
Must we go through another “Firefly” catastrophe of being cancelled after the first season? I love this show. Just like “Firefly” it has humor, intelligence, a sci-fi edge, and it is incredibly entertaining. I love how the characters are developing and I think this show has great potential if Fox will just leave it on the air. I only watch the news on my local Fox station and Second Chance, the rest of their lineup blows. This show is a keeper.
It’s a great show! Thought it was cancelled then they moved it. No promos either. Like it on Fri. when there’s only a few show to watch.
I’ll add one negative to my previous positive comments about the show. There is one weakness that is pervasive in this series. Are we to believe that Otto and Mary are so smart that they can bring a person back from the dead and rejuvenate his body from that of an 80 year old to a 35 year old, and yet they cannot cure Mary’s cancer without the aid of Jimmy Pritchard’s blood? Kind of big stretch.
Isn’t all Sci Fi? If we had been picky about the Star Trek series, all of them, we would not have any of them to watch today.
I just found this show. I think it’s fantastic. Very engaging entertainment that is now on my top “love to watch” list. I think if people watched just one episode, they would be hooked.
I love this show. I think the ratings have suffered because they announced the cancellation so early that people don’t want to get hooked on a show that will be cancelled. It is very disapointing.
This is a great show and one that if positioned correctly could connect with anyone. How many people have said or done something they wish could change?? I’d guess almost everyone and because of that you can connect with this show. The characters are just getting developed and there are 3 – 5 ongoing plotlines that are progressing week to week. I fall in the key demo they are looking for and this is one of a couple shows I actually watch. Don’t take it off the air!!
Great show!!Second season would be awesome!its clever and funny and takes us on a fun ride every week…
Please do not cancel this show!I am in the entertainment business and this is one of the best series I’ve seen in a very long time, I have told numerous people to watch the show and no one has been disappointed including my 18-year-old daughter who is very hard to please. If you cancel the show I will not watch a fox series ever again.
If you look at Fox’s lineup during the spring season, you will notice it is very top heavy on mind numbing reality shows. Looks like the Millenium takeover of all things television has begun. And all I’m seeing are ridiculous reality shows. I would be insulted if I belonged to that demographic!!!
I think this show has the potential to pull in big audiences as well as making it big in alternate distribution like Netflix, which is still money for Fox. They’ve given many shows time to find their footings. I hope they give this show a second season and find a way to attract audiences to the great story telling and characters.
I really like this series. I think it can do well if it gets the attention it deserves.
I hadn’t seen any of the episodes, but ran across it while searching on-Demand content on Comcast, since nothing else was worth watching on Sunday. I ended up binge watching the first six episodes. The show sounded like a dumb concept at first, but the series is actually very well done and drew me in. That’s kind of remarkable because a lot of shows take several episodes for the viewer to feel like the actors are actually fitting into their roles and gelling together. Bones was a good example of this; at first, the acting seemed very sub-par, but later… Read more »
I love this show!!!! I really hope it doesn’t get cancelled! The acting is great
I really enjoy this show. I have found myself looking forward to next week’s episode, and it’s not the typical cop show always playing. It’s unique twists keep me watching. I certainly hope a second season will follow. Cancelling this show would be a mistake. I really hope FOX makes the right decision and gives us a second season.
I really like this show. I’m really sick of fox cancelling shows after one short season, and good stuff too! I think if fox cancels this show that I’m just done with fox!
