What’s This TV Show About?
An ABC family sitcom, Speechless stars Minnie Driver, John Ross Bowie, Mason Cook, Micah Fowler, Kyla Kenedy, and Cedric Yarbrough. Maya DiMeo (Driver) is a no-nonsense mom who will do anything for her family: husband Jimmy (Bowie), brainy Ray (Mason Cook), athletic Dylan (Kyla Kennedy), and teenager JJ (Micah Fowler), who has cerebral palsy. The third season kicks off with the DiMeo family and JJ’s aide, Kenneth (Yarbrough), heading to London to meet up with Maya’s estranged father, Martin (John Cleese), to ask him for some help. This year, Maya also has to come to terms with how fast her kids are growing up.
Season Three Ratings
The third season of Speechless averaged a 0.49 in the 18-49 year old demographic and 2.32 million viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 57% and 46%, respectively. Find out how Speechless stacks up against the other ABC TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Speechless for season four? The ratings have really dropped with the move to Friday nights. That could easily spell cancellation for this sitcom but I’m sure ABC would like more episodes for a syndication package (ABC Studios produces the show with 20th Century Fox Television). They could go either way with this show so I’ll keep an eye on the ratings and will update this page with new developments. Subscribe for free updates on any Speechless cancellation and renewal news.

Me and my family love this show. When I found out it was cancelled I was quite upset. I hope it gets a season 4 because I love the show and the cast.
I can’t believe you canceled Speechless! This is a great show that focuses on a kid trying to do more with his life that just being identified as “the guy in the wheelchair.” It’s one of the only shows that has ever tried, let alone succeeded, at getting the message out that the disabled are more than just their disability. They can have friends that don’t also have a disability. They can have girlfriends, go to dances, go to college away from their families and make a life of their own. Please renew this show! It’s so important and very funny. Minnie Driver is the best and everyone in the cast makes it great. One of the only shows on TV featuring someone with a physical disability and actually does it well.
Please renew Speechless. Best comedy available here in the UK.
I really hope this show dose not get cancelled but by the looks of the last episode they either don’t feel like it will get a new season or they just wanted to give a little wrap up just in case. I really feel like the the cast really started clicking in the middle of the 2nd season and the 3rd season was pure gold! Really hope they renew this show!!!
I love this show and think it could be a really interesting new season, with the new dynamic of JJ being in NYC and Jimmy having a new job— and Maya needing to focus her energy on other things beyond JJ.

Why wouldn’t they move it back to a night when more people watch TV? Friday should be reserved for cheap “reality” series and sports.
I think this show has a great plot and I’m very glad to see that the character JJ is actually a person who has CP and uses a wheelchair. I worked with people with disabilities for 20 years and it’s about time shows used genuine people with disabilities portraying themselves and not just some actors in a wheelchair. My problem is that while the show started out really well, I think the writing has sadly gone downhill and the stories are so predictable and just too over the top. My family loves Speechles. It’s a show that I can let my kids watch with out worrying there is something bad going to pop up. There is truth in this show that you dont get in other shows. It’s a funny show we love it.
