It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Please bring it back for another series. Great show. Really enjoyed it.
Please bring back the 2nd season. Its a great show.
I thoroughly enjoyed Taxi Brooklyn. Cannot understand why the best shows are cancelled. Hopefully it will be brought back. There are so few good shows to watch that don’t have the FFF word in every other breath!
I would definitely watch another season of Taxi Brooklyn
Like others that I’ve read below, I too watched this on Netflix. It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen on Netflix. Too bad NBC didn’t take a chance to renew it for a 2nd season. It started a little slow, but definitely picked up steam. One of the best cliff hangers I’ve ever seen. Any chance Netflix could pick up the story line with a new show?
MUY MOLESTA…QUIERO SEGUNDA TEMPORADA!!! ESTÁ SÚPER DE BUENÍSIMA!!!!TERMINARSE DE ESA MANERA Y Q NI VENGA LA SEGUNDA TEMPORADA????QUIERO LA SEGUNDA TEMPORADA Y CON LOS MISMOS ACTORES!!! GRACIAS
The show was great! I just now saw it on Netflix I couldn’t stop watching it!

bad decision to cancel this show.
lousy trick by nbc to end one series like that and give us squat to follow.
i loved this series.
Please in need the season 2 I am sick of asking myself what happened. at list you can a serie final
Why does Netflix take on shows that are incomplete i guess they dont care, pick up shows on the cheap. This was a good series what a terrible ending ..what happened, too many questions left….disgusting programming….
totally agree. netflix treating viewers badly.
This show needs a second season such a dramatic final to season 1 pleas brung back the show
awesome show. Needs to be a second season. Can’t leave viewers hanging in the air after such a finale to season 1. Unfair not to bring it back.
Loved it. Needs to come back. Please
