It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I would like to see another season. I loved the first one.
One of the best new shows!
What R U thinking CBS?.???.
Totally unfair to leave us hanging, we at least deserve at the very least one more show.
Ummmm….read the title of the article again.
I don’t think they should have cancelled the show, I just got done watching it and it is a great show
Great show. 2 bad it was cancelled
I love love love this show I couldn’t wait for season 2 you guys really disappointed me, I tuned in every week to watch this show…why do you always take the really good shows off the air??? #pissed
I started to watch the series on netflix & I got hooked. I watched the entire series one after the other. I have to say i Don’t enjoy a lot of television series, but I enjoyed this one. It was a great cast. I enjoyed each character they made me laugh & cry. The writers were really good. In a drama I like real human emotion. The cast did an excellent job.i’m sorry I didn’t knew about the series till now. I would have watched it, maybe help keep it on the air. I think your network might have made a… Read more »
I just finished watching the first season on Netflix .. last episode has me jumping up and down . HOW COMPLETELY CRUEL to leave 5 million viewers, and myself, hanging like that.
Rude, arrogant, and greedy .. hence why I havent watched television for years, and I shouldnt have dabbled in television series on NetFlix either.
Lesson – relearned – back to movies for me.
NBC sucks.
I know that this will not make a difference but I watch a the whole season with my son in a day and 1/2. We love this show and to find out it will not be back I’m sadden.
NO SEASON 2 ?!?! And we’re left high and dry. Thanks a lot.
I’m very upset this show is cancelled I loved it and was looking forward to season two I watch it on Netflix and not everyone can see it on TV bring it back!
Very entertaining show. Too bad NBC decided to cancel.
that is very disappointing loved the show watched all of it on netflix maybe they could take it up
I literally just finished watching the show on Netflix and I loved it. I can’t believe they cancelled it over lack of improved numbers, that is a really stupid reason to cancel it when they say that they had 5 million loyal viewers. Most shows only hang on because they fluctuate in the numbers, but they had a loyal audience. They should have at least held on for a second season and attempt to check Netflix views of the first season, because now they have 5 million people waiting for a second season and recommending the show to friends and… Read more »
I did the same exact thing as you
